But I am neither an NDC member nor supporter and yet I come from the VR. The VR comprise people of many linguistic groups, among them Ewes. Even this person speaking, Dr Kwabena Adjei, is not an Ewe. I therefore wonder why some Tribal Hustlers (T-Hustlers) should come and target Ewes and start insulting we Ewes again? In any case, is this self-introspection not a good thing for the NDC and Ghanaians as a whole? Admitting that something is wrong might imply doing something to right the wrong, or...?

I had expressed my unhappiness about the NDC regime and the state of the nation countless times, from the time of Mills to Mahama - I was mostly silent when K4 was in power. I listed some of my grievances in the article, Staying in the Frying Pan, posted on Ghanaweb too. A review of that and an evaluation of Mahama's first year in office is forthcoming but the scorecard shows that Mahama's first year in office is a huge disappointment. Under his watch, with his active complicity, the ills identified, including corruption, have rather intensified with reckless abandon, while he took a laid back attitude to the challenges of governance.

Of course, the rampant corruption under K4 led to the downfall of the NPP in 2008, as even long time opponents of the NDC were contributing money on SIL and privately to support the NDC.

It is the same corruption from the K4 era which has been allowed to fester and continue under Mills and now under Mahama, so no one should deceive him/herself that we have something new under Mahama. Both the NDC and NPP are equally corrupt, with the exception that there are more people in the NDC who are ready to at least talk about it openly and pay lip service to curbing, if not eradicating, it.

John Mahama has been waiting to hear a word our the plan for the region and nothing is fore coming. What can the govt do with you having useless MPs.
Computers to schools is not the grassroots, the grassroot are the people who needs jobs to be able to buy computers for rheir children.
Its not only in volta region but all the regions. No a single region has an approved plan by the people of the region to the govt. You hear people like NDC chairman and know NDC govt is not a govt. How can a chairman say such a thing about the govt he is suppose to chair to power.
NDC can deceive people sometimes, but cant decieve them all the time.
There is no corruption within the govt, we have corruption within the public servants. Its up to a public servants to sign a check or not. Ghana govt pay by checks and who check these checks. Nobody check the checks before given out. If you check why you paying millions to somebody you will know whether its the right amount or not. Audit service should be able to trace every cedi that the govt paid out.
Our public administration is failing Ghanaians not the govt and its minister. No money can ever go out without a public servant signature. Why do they sign things they dont know. They are the corrupted ones and the govt is the thief.

The time is now for Voltarians to put to good use the electoral might of the region. Without Bolta, there will be no NDC.. The North where the President comes from did not contribute even up to 10 percent of winning votes as to those of Volta.
Yet the prime ministerial appointments went there and other regions whose performances were abysmal.
VOLTA must embrace the concept that,in politics, you have no permanent friend or enemy. What we need to consider as Voltarians is permanent interest of Ghana and Voltarians.
It is a fact that our political leaning to the NDC Is heightened by the the unfriendly posture to the Region or Voltarians by the NPP. How do you vote for a party whoe leaders threaten your existence or wish to annihilate you when they come to power.
This pro VOLTAfor NDC will only change if the NPP changes its negative political posturing to Voltarians. If that happens, Voltarians will feel safe to accommodate the NPP. If that happens, then power will start rotating between the NDC and the NPP.
The NDC will not take Volta then for a ride any longer because they know such act will take the NDC out of power.
In this situation, we will continue to stay with the NDC and be exploited and abused until that happens.
I believe there must be a oaradigm shift politically in the Volta to send a strong warning to the NDC other than that, the complain will continue year in year out.?
President Mahama has not rewarded Volta as much as he did to the North which has lost 8 seats to the NPP.
VOLTA needs new political leadership imbued with dynamism , boldness , and intelligence and not the politicall bankrupt leadership we now have. That is the surest way to benefit from our electoral might.

They are not only eating with both hands but also their fett as well, someone signed the oil contract with the american company and I cried foul but today what he did has become a kindergarten thing. These guys were studying when the NDC was founded , they are not showing any sort of respect for the gurus. All they know is inflate their pockets. Am an Akan and turned against my own people when it came to the last election because I believe in fairness, am now asking myself if there is any bit of fairness here. Recently the President went to Wa through the Volta region but the Volta region did not see one lab top, whereas Wa where he visited after Volta had over 2000s of Lap top computers!!! The Volta citizens cannot accept this uncaring attitudes from the NDC since the 1992!! Without us, the Volta region standing in the trenches and gutters accepting dehumanising insults but making the efforts of detractors coming to nought, we cannot see exactly what the NDC thinks of the region!! The citizens of the Volta region must now demand their fairer share of the national cake!! Without the eloquence aqnd indepth knowledge of the Volta Lawyers, amomng others Tsatsu and Lithur, how could we have won the vexacious and frivolous 2012 Election Petition?? Volta must stand out and up and call for the tune and determine what our NEEDS are!! The only region where there is no factory, no job avenues and the place where the important schools have run down completely!! Why?? NDC wake up else when Volta turns away, the defeat will be collosal!!! Appointment given to the Volta region does not reflect the aspirations and what Volta stands out for!! Is the only region that has a university where no Teaching Hospital status has not be conferred to the regional hospita with the mind of expanding it sooner than later!!! The infrastructural develpment of other regions by government sleeps over what needs to be actually done in the Volta!! Is it that the volta regional ministers are sleeping or are very selfish!!!! What is their (MPs and ministers appointed)individual and collective contribution to the volta regional face lift and development agenda!! We want to know!!! Don't just come after 4 years to renew your mandates without proving what contributions you might have made but not what you might have dreamt of!! ENOUGH is ENOUGH!! NDC must do it or never!! Volta is and has been so caring and brings sweet things to the table of political power and sooner are always forgotten and even mocked!! Volta must be wise!! Volta must stand up!! After all the contracts NPP dished out to Togbe Afedi and co they turned round to tell Voltarians NPP did nothing for Voltarians. Ungrateful and selfish people. At least if nothing at all, NPP built the Sea defence Wall to protect the voltarians. If this meeting and statement had happened in Kumasi people like you would come out screaming Akan tribalists. What you people don't seem to realise is life has a way of teaching us a lesson. If you don't think and wish good for your brother, neither will you succeed in anything you do. The Volta region will stay under developed because of the attitude of its people. Rich Voltarians do not even want to go and invest in their own towns and villages, who then do you want to come and invest there?

Remove the hatred you have for Akans from your hearts, until you stop dwelling on past issues and work together with the rest of Ghanaians to move this country forward rather than the we, we, we, attitude, you will remain under developed. The blackman blamed the white man for slavery and our underdevelopment for years and where has that got us? Rather than putting the past behind us and forging ahead together we blame others for our own failures.

NDC rode on the solid foundation that had been laid by the previous administration when the came to power, for 5 years, they have not done anything to secure and build on the gains achieved by the NPP and look where we find ourselves as a nation. NDC came and grabbed with both hands and feet neglecting even the very people who helped them to power. What has Tsatsu done for the volta with his million? What will Tony lithur do for the voltarians with his new found riches?

Akans may be proud people but I see them to be very industrious, compassionate and helpful, that is a trait that no amount of suppression can ever take away. Until we stop this Akan hatred and all work together, we will all fail as a nation. It takes a strong man to swallow his pride and hatred and work with his so called enemy. It's time Voltarians show they are bigger and wiser. Vote for competence and visionary people not for tribe. The politicians have been knocking our heads together for far too long, dividing us and ruling us, it's time we the electorates start knocking the politicians heads together to get good governance irrespective of what tribe we come from.

You do not necessarily need a Voltarian to rule for the Volta region to be developed, you need a visionary and strong leader irrespective of where he comes from. So wise up Prosper, open your eyes or forever remain underdeveloped through ignorance.

A point of correction is that it was the NDC government under JJ Rawlings who secured the money down for the sea defence wall. The NPP just came to do the work!! Just like the Buipe dam had all the feasibilkity works finished by the Osagyefo, JJ Rawlings government came to appreciate how power sent to the north from the national grid became his mantra and which Rawlings accomplished and Kuffour came to contuinue from where the Osagyefo stopped in 1966 and Mahama accomplished the feat 2013!!

Let it get into the coconuts of most of you that the Volta people don't fear death!! Never!! And they have the right to stake their demands to governments!! For far too long, they kept quiet and when they say a word then most people subject it to crooked analysis!! Eeven when I mentioned airports been built in most regions, what offence was that!! Isn't it because as a nation we lack the expetiece to draw a comprehensive and deep down and serious development plan so politicians have the right to hide behind ignorance and always wish to bambozle their way just because most of them will enjoy been elected the second time!! Were you in the country when before the 2012 elections that mad MP called Kennedy Agyepong from the NPP demanded the Ewes and Gas in the Ashanti region be killed?? What would you have said if it had been the Ewes who said that?? Why do you think what Kuffoiur did for the Torgbe Afede was kindness?? Our mental attitudes must change!! After Togbe Afede brought the investors and the electricity badge, was it sent to the Volta region, isn't it in Tema and the whole country is using and benefitting from the brain work of this Togbe?? Please tell your people also!! It takes two to tango and you wish to exhibit your apparel cloth and blame it on others whereas we are all aware of the others that are pregnant with the same malfeasance you purport to have been only in the domain of the Ewes!! Let those who believe Ghana belongs to them should go to hell with their Ghana and enjoy their wealth, and let the poverty-stricken Ewes also wallow in their so-perceived poverty.

Nyebro Habluta Senyo, I can bet here that the Volta Region can survive and prosper on its own. The way forward is to start a militant group to champion this bid for separation.

I have noticed that every time I meet an ewe person, the first question they ask is "what tribe are you from?" That's not a good attitude to have toward your fellow Ghanaian. Accra was developed because the native people were welcoming and as a result people go there to invest their hard earned money. I would love to build a hotel in the Volta region but won't because they perceive me as their enemy.
