The implementation may not be perfect but there is always a way to fix things. It's Amendments! The current government can go to Parliament and amend the scheme. Why see everything in NPP/NDC lenses?

Open your eyes and not everything be in the lense of partisan perception for Ghana needs all of us. Our development is in our hands and we can scream all you want and Kuffour and family with his hotels,Realastates,cars and all those he got within 8years in office will not enjoy the benefit cos he is already swimming in this sea of wealth and you are struggling to survive so think,okay?

I agree with the CEO that the former president means well. If for nothing all, the former president deserves great commendation for the boldness of implementing this noble pro-poor health policy. He therefore deserves the necessary courtesies, not only as the former president, but more especially for his singular role in the existence of the NHIS.

  Get anywhere! Remember that Mr.Kuffour has very knowledgeable resource confidants/proteges on this scheme,like Drs. Richard Anane and Addo Kuffour,plus a host of others from the region,who could have provided him with the information at your disposal.
  As a matter of fact,NhyiraFM,another Kumasi-based Radio,also did a slanted show on the topic [capitation]just a couple of days ago,during which the host,Kofi Asante Anin,did his utmost to 'poison' the minds of suscribers resident in the region! For example, bad motives were largely imputed for the selection of the most populous and diverse region of the country,Ashanti,to carrying out the year-long pilot program,which I consider most unfortunate.
  I therefore would recommend that the results[positive & negative]of the exercise be made available to ALL SUSCRIBERS of the scheme,particularly,those in the Ashanti region,to help disabuse peoples` minds regarding the kind of misinformation that was disseminated on the show.

  I don't understand the type of result they want to achieve that made them select the region with the highest population. At lest if anything at all they should have used one district hospital from each region.

If you believe one Dist Hospital would have been sufficient, then why not make it even simpler by selecting only the outpatient dept of that dist. hospital,where the info gained would come very fast,but provide us a distorted picture far different from that which can be gleaned from a avast area, but offering different kinds and levels of services - KATH, KNUST Medical School, polyclinics,dist hospitials,health centres -which are dotted all over the region. What useful information can you derive from user habits for the operation of a national scheme,if you focus solely on a particular locale in say Konongo, Agogo,Bekwai,Juabeng,Offinso,Nyinahinietc? if you understand the proper building blocks of this type of scheme,then you`ll appreciate the necessity to take into account all the health needs of greatest number of suscribers;particularly when the scheme is viewed as a necessary and useful social intervention scheme.
  Remember this is not a "kalabule" operation to enrich a handful of service providers and their allies[scheme managers], who used it to siphone limited resources into private pockets! We all heard about the horror stories about over-billings that are a common feature of any insurance scheme. Listen, you`ll have the new mgmt to thank when all the dust settles.
