Just telling the patient, "if you don't get treated the infection would affect your whole body" does not heal anything. The TREATMENT itself is what matters.

Why do we produce too many graduates if we currently do not need that much? Why can't the government channel the scare resources for training these excess graduates into expanding job opportunities for now?

All universities are now subsidised by government, that is to say indirectly that, even the private universities who are not taxed use the non-taxable incomes that otherwise must have been collected by government to subsidise their operations. If about 200,000 graduates come out yearly and the government averagely spend $10,000 on each person, we could be talking about $2billion in wrong investment for now, especially in courses where there would be no jobs for decades. Now, why can't we reduce this by half and save $1billion? If $500 million out of the $1billion is invested in eg Dr Christo Osafo's project funding advance technology to produce say fridges and TVs, supplying just the local market would generate billions of dollars in investment returns within short period, create jobs, increase GDP, increase Ghana's industrial base, taxes, store food going waste, etc.

What about investing in projects like innovation centres to nurture ideas for self-employment for the graduates? Here, unemployed graduates could form creative, innovative, etc groups/cooperatives in their related study fields, then train in entrepreneurship and fund by government to embark on wealth creation.

Our country filled with foreign goods is indication that we export problems for solution and therefore since we cannot solve our problems we would remain poor. As a result, we need to review our education to assist in solving local problems and get rich. Our content of education makes us unproductive and become too dependent on others for help.

What the government must do is to incentivize the private sector with the necessary ingredients to expand and hire more workers. Also, the Ghanaian education must be tailored along skilled labor, towards production rather than distribution and consumption.

Graduates in China, Australia, UK, USA, Malaysia, India, Brazil, Cuba, South Africa, France, Germany etc are all experiencing same world wide problems. I think our young graduates should learn to be innovative by bring their acquired knowledge and experiences into generating practical outcomes for their individual selves or severally/jointly instead of always thinking of being employed by a big company or the government. This a way forward.
