Before, I was used to replying in kind to verbal aggressions, being unable to contain the savagery and the uncouth by some people who refuse different views other than their own. The reason I stopped was because I learnt from you and if you could recollect, I said one day, while conferring praises on you that you must have very calm nerves.

True, it is very frustrating and mostly annoying that someone would relish picking at you when they could simply have refuted your personal opinions: no one is obliged to sip others' views, not at all. Throwing insults at others for their opinions when people could simply counter arguments by presenting theirs is therefore vile and barbaric.

Next time, try to be yourself.

Martin Amidu didn't respond to the evidence of Mr. Odame Okyere. It's alleged that two of the payments made to Woyome were made when Martin Ammidu was AG. Mr Odame Okyere quoted dates to support his witness, however Martin Amidu failed to provide any material evidence to deny Mr Okyere's evidence. I believe Mr Okyere must have provided documents to support his evidence. This rejoinder is only a spin. Lets have the dates on which the payments were made and then we can decide for ourselves who was telling the truth and who was lying here.

You appear to lack understanding of how organisations work. If the payments were approved by the previous minister, it is possible Mr Amidu was unaware when the payments were made even if he was the minister at the time of the payments. Civil servants would have told him that the payments had been approved by the his predecessor even if he enquired about them.

Let us even assume he approved the two payments. Then, what? He might have approved the payments based on false and wrong advice from senior civil servants but on closure examination he realised that the payments were unjustified so he took steps to recover the money and so this case. We should be grateful to him, rather than seek to discredit him.

You ought to know that Mr Odame Okyere as the investigator and a prosecution witness would not provide evidence based on hearsay. He has access to all material evidence and his evidence was thus based on available documents. If he lied, he would be committing perjury so why would he reveal that two payments was made under the watch of Martin Amidu?. If by your own submission Martin Amidu might had been unaware of the two payments, then that's an indictment of his management qualities. It'a instructive to note that, no one is accusing Martin Amidu, thus it's needless for him to use the Supreme Court review as a decoy to refuse to address the evidence of Mr Okyere. No amount of spin or semantic will prevent the truth. I am just as concerned by any other well-meaning Ghanaian to unravel the truth, albeit without emotions as most forumers are displaying. Emotions tend only to cloud our judgement and obfuscate issues. Have a good day.

Look, regardless of who authorized these payments, and under whose watch they were effected - Betty Mould-Iddirisu,Barton Oduro,or Matin Amidu -these payments were illegal,since Woyome himself, has publicly conceded the fact the he had no contractual agreement with the govt of Ghana! This is essentially,what this case is about! Thus PSW, ASP Odame Okyere`s testimony as to whose tenure these payments were made,is really not significant. I just hope and pray that the State Attys handling this case will have tha courage to put their colleague Neequaye and or his wife on the stand to explain why a whopping $ 400 k payent was made to her everybody`s 'Santaclaus' called Alfred A. Woyome! And guess what,I would consider making my own pitch to 'philanthropist' Woyome to the thousands of needy folks of this country,if his explanation holds water.

Maybe it was a ploy to 'MISLEAD THE COURT' through the use of such tactics. And,had this not thus come public, Amidu would not have had the opportunity to set the records straight before things got too late.

As suggested by Kofi Ata, Mr. Amidu could offer to appear as witness of the court (whatever they call it in their judicial chinese jargon).

Mr. Editor of the "Daily Graphic" (DG)it is one thing publishing a true story and another thing dragging somebody's good name into the mud. The consequence of the publication of the article in the (DG) that alleged Mr. Amidu authorized the last two payments of certain sum of money to Woyome, has unjustifiably placed Mr. Martin Amidu's integrity and good name in limbo.
I for one see Mr. Amidu as a man of high integrity, honest and incorruptible and of moral character.
Unfortunately, your publication has given cause for all the good qualities and attributes such as decency, honesty and incorruptible that people associate to him are at the verge of becoming questionable.
What did he do to deserve such kind of malicious attack on his integrity and his good name? just to ruin a decent man?.
I believe his only crime was that he was determined to carry out justice and was undisturbed about where and to whom the chip falls. It is however sad that your journalistic piece that was lacking supporting evidence and facts to justify the article's credence was unfortunately published and portrayed as a true story.
The consequence of the publication may have adversely tarnished the integrity. and the good name of Mr. Martin Amidu. Mr. Editor and Mr. Journalist, how do you give his good name back?. I don't think you can repair the serious and unpardonable damage you guys have done to him.
No amount of retractions of the story and apologies can bring his well built and guarded reputation back. It is pitiful and probably a journalistic suicide.
I think it'll be appropriate that the journalist who wrote the piece and the "Daily Graphic" Editor who sanctioned its publication be summoned by the court to give the opportunity to Editor and Journalist to make available any incriminatory evidence they may have that they believe can give some credence to their story to the court and to enable the members the opportunity to examine and evaluate the evidence as to its veracity.
On the other hand, if the journalist and the "Daily Graphic" Editor are unable to produce such evidence, it will be appropriate for the court to charge the two men of libel and will thus open the legal gate for Mr. Amidu to sue them for defamation of his good name and integrity to the world.
I think, if the Court is to take such a stand, it will be a good lesson to journalists and editors to think twice and consider all facets of stories before they go into print for readers consumption.
