You will admit that there are indeed many of our brothers and sisters who dont like reading lengthy or even short articles and rejoinders on matters of national interest. Perhaps cartoons may better address their peculiar needs in a more concise and apt manner.

Cartoons have a way of capturing the attention, interest and imagination of large sections of human society - including children, for a variety of reasons including the artistic aspects.

We do not have enough of cartoon impressions to capture the wrongs and merits of our daily life and any effort in that direction is most welcome. Many countries around the world have managed to impress social and cultural values on their societies by the use of animated and graphic cartoons. It works effectively on young people.

Dont also be fooled by the wide and common use of cartoons in America today to think that cartoons or cartooning is an exclusive American phenomenon. It is definitely not. If anything at all, like many other activities of life, they rather copied the art-form from Africa.

There is ample anthropological evidence to prove that early man (the Australopithecus Africanus hominid) whose traces have been found only in Africa, drew images of themselves, their leaders and of life on barks of trees, stones and bones. One can describe these expressions of art as the earliest forms of what we can modestly refer to as art or cartoons. Some discovered artifacts depicting these art-forms predate the Caucasian (white) race by several millions of years.

So I say, kudos to you Ghanaweb. Go for the cartoons. I just hope that they are not used to promote the values of other races to the disadvantage of ourselves.

It can only be your limited understanding of the word culture which must have led you to make this most embarrassing remark.

Assuming without admitting that all those items you mentioned, tro-tros, taxis and TVs were really and indeed cultural artifacts, we pay for them when we need them. We dont get them for free. Those we buy these items from, benefit much much more in terms of financial gains than we tend to think.

In any case the West has also copied or taken much more things from us than we have from them. These include our mineral resources, our slave labour and about 400 years of our freedom and liberty.

Finally I dont think anybody is advocating for a total rejection of western culture as a whole. What I believe was being said is that those aspects of western politics that aims to to manipulate us so that they can unjustly benefit from us should not be encouraged.

In any case other people, other than the West, also produce similar cars
