This guy had to start work at 3am in the morning.Doing this kind of shift for a long period of time will always take it's toll on the body.
There are are a lot of African men who hardly check their blood pressure these days, especially the the ones that are not so fat.
The fat ones always have their blood pressure checked as soon as they see their Doctors but, the not so fat ones always fall through the net based on the assumption that only fat people die from heart attacks.
As Africans, we are genetically prone to high blood pressure. We should therefore, make it a habit of checking it very often and getting the required medication to treat it.
Those working night shifts and other ungodly hours should als make sure they have at least 3 good days of proper sleep.

Komla did a job so many have been doing for ages before him. So he must not have undergone more pressure than his colleagues have.
I was OK, strong with no health problems. I had waist (lower-back pains) and decided to see Chinese health specialists for acupuncture because someone told me they were good. I had the shock of my life to discover I had blood pressure of 180/85 which the lady referred to at the time as "little". 180/85 wasn't little!
Now the question was, how long had this been happening silently to my veins while I had no clue or physical feeling of it? So guys please check your pressure even if you feel you're very strong.

When is Ghanaweb going to hire editors who can do due diligence when it comes to editing....the usage of this indicting caption tells us one thing about Ghanaweb and not the late great Komla or Herbert and it is this; Ghanaweb is not a smart website or journalism outfit.....the people at Ghanaweb apparently don't know zilch about journalism.....you just don't run photos that will inevitably invite rude comments like those plastered on the website....silly Ghanaweb.....

As an African, our food is predominately full of Carbohydrates and red meat with little or no exercise at all. Our African wives tends to feed their man with so much meat for dinner because their husbands are the bread winner. It's the children who need more meat to grow healthy but not the men because men who eats too much meat build up too much high blood chlorestol. Men at the age or 35 years and above must cut done on eating red meat and sugar.
This is what sent Komla to his grave.
Yes,he had too much pressure at the BBC but everybody here is working under severe pressure.Komla did not plan his time well and was not doing any exercise at all.His favourite was a khebab with beer after work. This was the cause of his death.
Eating healthy is key to living longer and Africans must learn to eat well balanced diet and reduce their sugar and red meat intact and must exercise at least 2 or 3 times a week.
Adult must not eat after 6pm because food eating after this does not normally digest well.
Komla,rest in peace

This picture says it wall. He probably has not been eating well. With high blood pressure, the last thing an African living in the West should do is adopt eating a Western diet. It is a killer. His BP could have been managed properly if he understood the problem. Education on these health issues is very important. He was too young to die. He had so much going for him. May his soul rest in peace.

A picture is worth more than a thousand words. Of course there was pressure on him, but his diet (i.e. red meat) as shown in pic may also had been a contributing factor. May he rest in peace. God bless.

Just yesterday we heard a bad news that transmitted chill in our spine, namely the sudden departure of our brother, hero, mentor Komla Dumor. He was indeed a pride to Africans and people of black origin, lets admit we all felt proud whenever we saw him of the screen. Some of us boasted that Komla was our country man. News coming through suggests he was selected to be the face of the BBC during at the 2014 World Cup. For an african man surrounded by many enemies, envy, backstabbing from within, not to talk of those back home , was a great feat. Inspite of all the success, fame, prestige and credentials our brother was not guaranteed tomorrow, may his rest in peace, our prayers are with his children, wife and his extended family and friends. However i want to highlight to you dear reader that you are not guaranteed tomorrow. Komla certainly had aspirations and things he had imagined in the pipeline. What i want to say is that tomorrow may not come so leave your life to the fullest in God.
Hebrews 9:27
"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment": Komla has one his bit, he s now gone. After a person leaves this earth judgement awaits before his maker. Hence we need to make sure we know where we are going after this life,
For you to be guaranteed tomorrow and to live in eternity in a place called heaven, you have to receive Gods plan of salvation through His Son Jesus Christ who came to pay the penalty of our sins. When you confess him as your Lord and saviour, God grants you a place in His heavenly Kingdom for eternity.
"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name": John 1:12
" "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going." John 14:1-4
SALVATION
Since you may not know what will happen in the next minute, consider giving your life to Jesus. The bible says in John 3:16 " For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life".
"And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. Rev 20:12
At the moment any dead person so to speak is awaiting "trial" either in heaven or in hell, the question is where will you await the trial, after the trial, the person is setenced to hell if they did not live for Jesus in this life or sent to heaven if they lived for Jesus.
Make the right choice today to receive Jesus as your Lord and saviour.
CONFESS
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved". Romans 10:9
Beloved after you have done this please find a bible believing church near you and attend regularly, let the pastor know that you want to know more about Jesus and you would like to live for Jesus and practice the Christian way of living, You will also need to be baptised by immersion in water and required to attend church on regular basis. God bless u all.
PRAY WITH ME:
* Lord Jesus, i m a sinner, i come before you, forgive me my sins, wash me in your precious blood, I admit my sins, please forgive me and save my soul, I believe you are the Son of God, that you died and rose again on the third day, I believe you are coming back again. I confess you as my Lord and Saviour with my mouth and Believe in you with my heart. I am born again, I m a Child of God. Amen!!!

Deepest condolences to the family. May Komla rest in the perfect peace of the Lord.
And may Komla's death serve as a cautionary tragedy to all. There are many other highly-accomplished Ghanaians toiling in prestigious institutions and establishments all over the Western world. They have little time for their families. They voluntarily work late even when they are the proverbial first to arrive at work. Too much pressure, just too much pressure. Goals to be met, deadlines to be beaten, annual reviews, monthly reviews, weekly reviews, daily benchmark statistics of their productivity and so forth and so on and on and on...
But in the end, is this really worth it? No one will "mourn" for a month, if not months, like we do here, when these accomplished individuals are gone. Hell no! They will be replaced immediately. Only the bottom line matters to their employers! Work, work, work for more and more and more profits to provide fabulous salaries, stocks and fringe benefits for the one percent at the very corporate top ! That's all they care about.
Overseas Ghanaians, resolve now that every year you will get away from it all. You will come down home to Ghana and spend, at least, a month. OK if not possible - 3 weeks, 2 weeks. It will be worth it. Bob Marley advised his kids on his dying bed: "Take of your health. That's one thing you can never buy!"

What was Herbert Mensah thinking when he supplied that picture he took with his deceased "friend" to Ghanaweb? Does he not have any other pictures he had taken with his friend who just died of a heart attack other than this one, or he thought this was a good memorial for his deceased "friend"? And what were the editors of Ghanaweb also thinking when they put that picture of a young man who just died of a heart attack on the web? And the comments from Ghanaians on somebody's tragic death! How do you think his family and loved ones will feel when they see the picture and read the comments?
This tasteless lack of civility and cruel insensitivity to other peoples pain and suffering is typically Ghanaian, and is exactly why I stay away from Ghanaians as a group. There may be decent individual Ghanaians, but as a group our behaviour sometimes leaves a lot of room for improvement. I am often horrified about our lack of common decency and civility and kindness to our own.

Now, about what they were thinking?
Herbert, directly or indirectly was thinking about the increased fame and notoriety associated with knowing Komla.
Both the radio station and ghanaweb were thinking about what they consider to be the bottomline - money or the impact of being the first to produce that particular picture.
Lastly, one of the reasons celebrities have publicists is to have a coherent and an articulate single and yet unified narrative of their difficult lives, thus avoiding such Herbert debacles. I agree with you: Herbert should not be the one with a public relations narrative for Komlo on why and how he died. He lacks the requisite PR skills.
He should be out there distinguishing the man's character and achievements from the rotten political professionals we have in Ghana and Africa at large.
After all, Komla was a professional presenter with the BBC who did his job well.
Please do not stay away from Ghanaians, fpr we need your passion and intellect.

komla, God bless you baby, for giving us the privilege to share the earth with you. heaven is better anyway. rest in peace.
what komla was holding and probably eat and drink are surely the bad things for a heart patient! i however feel so so sorry that he is gone. May he rest in peace. BBC may never get someone like him again .... soon!
WORKING LIFE IN EUROPE IS ALWAYS PRESSURE. ALL OF US HAVE IT. RED FATTY MEAT WAS THE CAUSE OF KOMLA'S DEATH. LET US FACE THE TRUTH AND LEARN FROM OTHERS MISTAKES. GIVING VAGUE EXCUSES WILL NOT HELP. HE DIED NEEDLESS DEATH.
Clear off Herbert . U know the presuure folks dey go thru. His death need to be investigated.
Herbert's narrative seems orthogonal to Komls's death. Was Herbert's wife there when Komla died. What did she observe?
Was this a death from one cut or a thousand and one cuts. Did he die from ischemic cardiac arrest or in ...

Working under a white man coupled with your position demands a lot from him. He couldn't cope with the pressure from work, hence his sudden pass away. Rest in Peace
just a great figure of Africa and mother Ghana, may his soul rest in the hands of God peaceful, because God knows why.
As an African, our food is predominately full of Carbohydrates and red meat with little or no exercise at all. Our African wives tends to feed their man with so much meat for dinner because their husbands are the bread winner ...

Yes, exercise can surely undo the stress. The Prince of Dubai is very rich, but also very slim and fit. Now, give 1/1000% of his wealth to a Ghanaian, and within a year he won't be able to walk due to obesity.
Good advise
Strange friends...what a photo to use

I know kwabena is too fit to die. Ei dis white people. Hmmmmm but we all eat pork.
This picture says it wall. He probably has not been eating well. With high blood pressure, the last thing an African living in the West should do is adopt eating a Western diet. It is a killer. His BP could have been managed ...

He was indeed a pride to Africans and people of black origin, lets admit we all fel ...

Lilian, direct your comments towards Ghanaweb for running a photo that depicts Komla in a very poor light....not only is it distasteful and unprofessional, it speaks volume about Ghanaweb's journalistic abilities.......
Komla, mayu rest in the bossom ot the Creator.
He should have stayed away from all that fatty meat. In any case - jelousy and back-stubing come with the territory when you're successful!

Yeah whatever Herbert Mensah.. you wife beating cradle snatcher... why are you looking for fame through Komla's death?
Is Komla the first Ghanaian to work in a high powered organization abroad? There are many Ghanaians even much higher than Komla... Herbert Mensah is just trying to become relevant.
geeeh! that what he was eating with his high BP? maan, where are the vegies?
