Ghanaians have come to equate funerals with partying and will not disappoint when an opportunity presents itself. State funeral for what? I mean no disrespect for Dumor, we all loved and admired him; an affectionate real gentleman who comported himself very well and made Ghanaians every where proud. But a state funeral, are you kidding me? Just last Friday I was watching BBC TV Channel with some friends, here in Canada, when he came on, and I couldn't hide my excitement pointing him out to everybody in the room, that "hey, that man is a Ghanaian", as if they should care. Some even joked that I looked much like him. It hurts he is gone so soon at 41.
Back to the funeral business. What are the criteria for state funeral? Does one qualify because he worked for the BBC? What about my grandparents who toiled all their lives as cocoa farmers to keep Ghana going, when they themselves did not eat chocolate, but drank untreated water from streams? Do we discount their service to country because they never made TV?
Do these sycophants making the state funeral suggestion calculate how much it costs to set things aside to do state funerals? And these same idiots will blame the NPP's petition for the abysmal performance of John Mahama when neither he nor any of his appointees ever spent a day at the witness box. We are not a serious nation. Just fixated on the macabre and idiocy.

Why Komla?Is the GJA trying to politicize his death simply because he is the grandson of Philip Gbeho,or related to Mr.Rawlings,or simply cos he is an Ewe? The journalistic work of these African mercenaries has not been of benefit to Africa.
The case is not only against African journalist, but those from the Asia and Eastern Europe as well. We witnessed how they spread western press propaganda that has brought instability into Asia and Africa. The press was used and African journalists were used to spread the Islamic extremist views, anti-communism and anti African unity.

Ghanaians are talking about whether to give state burial to the ace Ghanaian journalist,but the debate has been deviated to the cold war,viz, East and west politics which is unnecessary.Both east and west or china have the same characteristics when talking about socio economic politics.What has happened to the 3billion doller loan china agreed to offer Ghana,even though only 600,000 dollers have being paid to Ghana china is demanding one percent interest being the overall interest on the total amount to be paid now,so this is to suggest that eventually China in effect is going to return payment of the accrued interest paid by Ghana as part of the 3billiondoller loan and charge interest again.Oman Ghana, is it not a trickery way of China duping Ghana into submission.Ghanaians sometimes lose their focus on several aspect of their strategic plans and turn around to blame the west for their gaping ignorance.Oh my people perish for lack of knowledge.

A Prayer Of Preparation For Death ( KOMLA DUMOR)
Father Yahweh , it’s my desire to have the same mindset as William Featherston who, following his conversion at the young age of 18, penned these words of commitment both in life and in death: “I’ll love Thee in life, I will love Thee in death, And praise Thee as long as Thou lendest me breath; And say when the death dew lies cold on my brow, If ever I loved thee, My Jesus ’tis now.” Whether I’m young or old, healthy or sick, wealthy or poor, I choose to prepare my heart for eternity here and now so that I will be assured of endless delight as I draw my first breath in heaven. I want to be prepared, persevering and prayerful while I take my long but brief hike here below. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen..
William Ralph Featherston (1848–1875) was a Christian hymnwriter, who wrote the poem My Jesus I Love Thee. He is believed to have written the poem at the age of either 12 or 16 years.
In 1876 Adoniram Gordon used the poem as lyrics for a hymn.
Featherston died prior to his 27th birthday, and is not known to have written any other songs.
According to Tim Challies,[1]
Not much is known about Featherston, except that he attended a Methodist church in Montreal, that he was young when he wrote the poem (12 or 16 years old), and that he died at just 27 years of age. One story about how the poem became public is that Featherston mailed it to his aunt in Los Angeles who, upon reading it, quickly sought its publication... It wasn’t until several years after Featherston’s death that Adoniram Judson Gordon (founder of Gordon College and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary) added a melody and published it in his book of hymns, thus forever transforming this poem to a song.
My Jesus, I Love Thee
My Jesus, I love Thee, I know Thou art mine;
For Thee all the follies of sin I resign.
My gracious Redeemer, my Savior art Thou;
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.
I love Thee because Thou has first loved me,
And purchased my pardon on Calvary’s tree.
I love Thee for wearing the thorns on Thy brow;
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.
I’ll love Thee in life, I will love Thee in death,
And praise Thee as long as Thou lendest me breath;
And say when the death dew lies cold on my brow,
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.
In mansions of glory and endless delight,
I’ll ever adore Thee in heaven so bright;
I’ll sing with the glittering crown on my brow;
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.
William Ralph Featherston, 1864

While we deeply mourn Komla Dumor should we accord him a state funeral BECAUSE HE WORKED FOR THE BBC? This is getting rather ridiculous. Would he have been lauded in the same way if he had been working for an African broadcasting company! The BBC was set up as an organization to further the interests of the British first and foremost.The BBC no longer pretends to just inform its audience but now has the primary task of shaping public (in this case African) opinion to make it favorable to the UK and promote values of some liberal minded individuals.The BBC is heavily populated with individuals with for example a vehementally pro-gay agenda.African audiences should not be naive and need to constantly remember the primary function of an organization like the BBC. We should stop being in awe of an organization like the BBC. One other thing.How many people who envied Komla are aware that he had a really tough time at the BBC and had to put up with constant sniping and barely concealed hostility from fellow British workers? I know not many want to hear this side of the story but we need to think carefully and deeply about own own romanticized perceptions of events.

This goes to prove the mentality the country has to deal with. Komla is one of their own so Ghana must put everything aside and hold a state funeral with its attendant cost. Very soon, they will suggest we name a street or a public place after him when all he did was to pursue an excellent career as a private citizen. These jerks are so corrupt that is no wonder they cannot report on anything worthy of reading. How often does one hear of invigorating exposure of corruption within the government. All you have to do is to wine and dine them and they are happy. Fools making fools of a whole nation.
