Who in his right sense of mind say some good and innocent members of society had to be sacrificed and still does not feel remorseful? Were you able to speak against an irresponsible statement in this 21st century? I am able to speak against anybody and lashed at Akuffo for the all die be die statement. I have many a time admonished the youth on this forum not to blindly follow politicians and commit violence because at a point in time they shall be dumped. When was the last time you spoke against anything wrong that some NDC gurus did? Whether you like it or not, not only Ghanaians but many important personalities and world leaders applauded him for accepting the verdict of Atuguba against the wishes of some of his party gurus.That puts him on a certain pedestal among Ghanaian politicians.

Why should any group of thinking human beings reward a failure or a bad example? No society in this world rewards failure. Success is what people encourage and reward. This universal norm is called "positive reinforcement". It means paying tribute to, and rewarding someone for his/her "positive" contribution to society.

Two main purposes underlie an award: First, to encourage the receiver to make more "positive" contributions. Second, to encourage others to emulate the receiver's example and work towards making their own "positive" contributions in the future.

In the minds of many, at home and abroard, Akufo Addo cannot qualify for any award because he has not made any positive contribution of any nation-wide significance. There is no success story in his association with Ghana.

The most vivid memories about Akufo Addo are his political failures in 2008 and 2012 as the article itself has said; his falure in the 2012 appeal; his failure in law school; the consequential lies on his job applications; his alleged cocaine connections; his divisive tribalism, his publicly-announced "all-die-be-die" disrespect for human safety, security and life in Ghana, and his total lack of statesmanship. There is nothing in all of the above that any normal Ghanaian would like his children, students, young adults and friends to emulate. Any award for a failure or a bad example is an example of negative reinforcement.

The great NPP will definitely fail again in the 2016 presidential election because Akufo Addo is a primary drawback. Akufo Addo is a hindrance. Akufo Addo is the proverbial monkey hanging on the NPP's shoulders. Unless he is dislodged, he will contitue to retard the NPP's progress, weaken it, and ensure its failure again.

"Even though the organizers did not mention what could have contributed to their decision, it is believed that Nana Akufo-Addo’s willingness to wholeheartedly accept the verdict of the Presidential Election Petition which he, together with two others filed at the Supreme Court, might have influenced matters".
So if he hadn't accepted it wholeheartedly, what would he have done, bearing in mind that the country is ruled and governed by laws, and any action short of working in tandem with our constitutional statutes would have been a gross infringement and an usurpation of the relevant provisions of our laws, and which our same laws and statutes provides for the express means, mode and actions for dealing with any such aberration. Again, for a party which subscribes to the rule of law, accepting the verdict of the courts was non-negotiable and the least the NPP could have done was to go for a review. The NPP party needs a much better message if they want to push the Akufo Addo card for 2016.

That was a feat that made every Ghanaian proud indeed!
Nominating Akufo-Addo for the award had political undertone. As politicsl as awarding the Modt Influential Ghanaian to Kwame Nkrumah. And that makes the award suspect, "quasi transparent ", and therefore bogus.
As a statesman, Nana should turn around and offer the award to the Black Stars. They deserve it more than anybody in Ghana.
