Ei, this midwife paa! Think about the struggling ordinary women, especially in the villages, who don't have maids, bungalows and fancy cars. You know these pregnant women work on farms (hoeing, planting, harvesting), walk a long way to the market to sell and to shop, do all the cooking and housework - because it's supposedly "women's work", and on top of this you want the husband to keep ordering them to lie on their backs and spread their legs, eh?

Shut up if you have nothing to advise on preventing pregnancy complications, better nutrition for both mother and foetus and reducing infant mortality!

What is your problem, Bush Doctor? The midwife said sex during pregnancy is good. It is only a recommendation NOT an obligation. It is just like saying: "eating rice in the afternoon is good". This does NOT mean everybody should eat rice in the afternoon. She also said, sex is a form of exercise. So if a pregnant woman in the village works on the farm, that is already accomplished and therefore may choose not to use sex as an alternative. Is that clear now?

Please, Bush Doctor, the midwife did not advise that a pregnant woman lay on her back and spread her legs. Did you read the article well? Did you read about the recommended position? That is for health reasons.

When I went into hospital following false "labour" alarms I was advised by the
Obs/Gynae Registrar to go home and have a Curry and Good...... (your guess is as good mine)

This is practically true. Married couple should take note and advise themselves. But if on health reasons your doctor gives a different advice it is perculiar to your case only and you need to heed. My wife gave birth to two strong boys (twins) some twenty four years ago without much pain and time to the surprise of her midwife because I was did not deny her sex during pregnancy. Even the day he delivered we had one before some hourly later she went into labour and was rushed to the clinic for successfuly delivery. My wife was in life threatened labour during delivery of our last born which also happened to be twins (two boys). This is because we stayed apart because my work took me to different town far away from our family house so my sexual engagement with her was limited making her depend on her own strength and energy during her nine months period of pregnancy. The midwife nearly took her to the theatre for "operation" but God intervened but really she had it tough she told me and I blamed myself for her predicament.

Becareful of sex during pregnancy. Babies have soft skull. If the penis is too long it can create a hole in the babies skull.

If your wife suffers from recurrent miscarriage, you cannot have sex WILLY NILLY (sorry about the pun).

If your wife suffers from recurrent miscarriage, you cannot have sex WILLY NILLY (sorry about the pun).
If she has low lying placenta, she can hemorrhage profusely.
Semen contains prostanglandins which can trigger premature labour.
So if the pregnancy is over 40 weeks, you can help to start labour by having sex.
