We really need to stop this ridiculous obsession with all things British.Would she have got the same publicity if she had performed similarly well while affiliated to a Ghanaian affiliated Educational institution or research centre? Fellow Ghanaians, let us learn to take pride in our own achievements and also learn to honour those RIGHT WITHIN OUR MIDST WHO WORK TIRELESSLY FOR THE GOOD OF OUR NATION AND PEOPLE.

To be elected a fellow to this or that is really no big deal. One doesn't study for it, one doesn't have to pass an exam for it. It usually comes from participating in conferences, lobbying and friends rewarding each other. These awards are like piles or haemorrhoids - any asshole gets some sooner or later, if they hang aroun long enough. Get a Nobel Prize and we'll salute you.

To be a fellow of the royal society of chemistry is not a big deal. Nobody dispute her knowledge and experiences but to make hay about being elected to that society is no news. I know a Ghanaian/British who has no A-level, no BSc. but managed to obtain an MPhil and a PhD. A year later he was a fellow of the Royal society of biology. You pay money to the society and you are a member. After all it is an honor for which you don't sit an examination for, as someone said.

Why use the word 'affiliated' if we have our own language and the bases of our studies without having a yardstick from renowned scientists abroad. You overlook the fact that the African is doomed without them? What have we really achieved after so many years of independence? Without them, you would have remained in your province beating the drums of the gods in your village. We should have gone forward from what we learnt from them but........sorry!!! Which of the scientists in the country has buck for research? Who proofs the results and the usefulness of the research if any? Our brains are ............ (Find the right word).

I think she should thank her science teacher, her sec school teachers for giving her that opportunity to be where she is today etc… These are the people who laid the foundation. Without these people I am not sure a miracle from God would have worked her way up where she is today. Ghanaian journalism should do better reporting… Congrats Doc!!!

It is not very often and indeed not easy that one gets a patent issued in his or her name for their inventions.

As an inventor myself and a patent holder of a Chemical Process for Bitumen Upgrading to Light crude oil in Canada,[ Patent # CA 2549358; US 2007/0267327 A 1] I can appreciate how much work Dr. Anie may have put in her research to have her invention issued with a patent.

Coincidentally, I graduated in Chemistry from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology [UMIST] and it is the by virtue of the chemical education and training I received from Manchester University that enabled me to invent the bitumen upgrading technology for which I have been issued a Canadian patent since 2010.

If I recall just last year,when 750,000 girls from 15-19 years got pregnant in Ghana,and compare it to the achievement this woman has chalked,it makes me totally sad,heartbroken,sorry for the unfortunate children who went through this pregnancy ordeal.
We have the social welfare,teachers,gender and children ministry,pastors and parents,all to have come together to find something worthwhile for our children to emulate,study,engage in,so they wouldn't have been swayed,caught up in such an unfortunate ordeal.
OUR GOVERNMENT BODIES AGENCIES AND OFFICIALS,CHURCHES,PARENTS SHOULD COME UP WITH SOMETHING BETTER TO SAVE OUR CHILDREN FROM UNWANTED PREGNANCY,THE GIRLS ARE GOING THROUGH.
I have three children that want to study and do something with their lives,but look at someone's?
THAT IS MY HEARTBREAK.
Mrs.Anne,should be used as a yardstick,for these girls to emulate,study,copy so it could throw a challenge to them,to wake up from their slumber,to do something better with their lives.
