We see in the Ukraine today how justice and freedom are obtained , if you are not ready to fight for it nobody will give it to you on a silver platter. no corrupt judiciary like atuguba or police can lie to these idealists and nationalists , no compromise or bribe of power sharing is good enough to make them sell out on the wishes of the people . npp should follow ken agyapong and 10,000,000 of us insights to the bone will come out and fight to the death in the streets to reverse the injustices to the Akans of the last 60 years. the abuse of the electoral processes by rigging did not pass there and should not pass here in Ghana. we dream like we have a democracy like the usa or any other normal country but in reality we have a system of governance with characters like we see in north Korea and Ukraine , criminals to the core are in charge, arise people of Akan and fear not the fight as we shall be victorious and triumph in this fight , yes its time for war . long live the republic of Akan

'Cashgate' trial begins in Malawi
President Joyce Banda ordered investigation of politicians and businessmen over millions of dollars in embezzlement.

A trial looking into the biggest financial scandal in Malawi's history has begun in the capital, Lilongwe.

At least 68 prominent figures stand accused of stealing funds in what has been dubbed "Cashgate" by the media. It is estimated that more than $100m over a 10-year period has been lost.

A senior Malawian civil servant and two executives on Wednesday became the first of dozens of defendants to go to trial.

"The cases have started and I pray that they'll go fast so that Malawians can finally know what happened," Information Minister Brown Mpinganjira told the AFP news agency. "We have been looking for answers and the answers can be found through the court proceedings."

President Joyce Banda, who has appointed international investigators to probe the allegations, has said that about 30 percent of the country’s budget could have been looted.

So far authorities have tracked $20m in stolen state funds, Mpinganjira said, amid rumours the figure could exceed $100m.

Government officials allegedly used a central computer payment system to transfer money to non-existent firms for supposed services, then deleted the companies' information from the system.

Foreign aid withheld

Donor countries are withholding millions of dollars in financial aid pending the investigation. Western donors provide about 40 percent of the country's annual income.

"People are awaiting the outcome of this case with great intensity, knowing as they do that in the past cases such as this have simply disappeared," said Al Jazeera's Mike Hanna, reporting from Lilongwe.

"People want to know if this case will go through and whether people will be held responsible."

Allegations of the massive looting of government funds surfaced after the shooting of budget director Paul Mphwiyo in September.

Mphwiyo, who survived the attack, had reportedly planned to reveal a corruption ring.

Banda dissolved the cabinet in October and sacked the powerful ministers of justice and finance.

The president, who took office after the death of her predecessor in 2012, faces presidential, parliamentary and local government elections in May.

More arrests in the Cashgate saga are expected when a probe backed by Britain and the European Union is completed, according to Mpinganjira.

Jake should not do anything contrary to the constitution of the party, If something should be done to save the party some money, then the party's constitution should be amended first.

Jake, I'm sorry your explanation doesn't wash. First go to congress and there amend the constitution, otherwise never attempt to go contrary to the constitution.

I am a proponent of decentralization and i think Mr. Lamptey's decision makes sense but first thing must be done first. Thus the party's constitution must be amended first before anything can be done. By doing this, it will forestall the bypassing of the party's constitution in the future to do things to satisfy a group or an individuals whims and caprices. Also, amending the constitution will erase the errorneous impression by others that you Mr. Lamptey or for that matter the current executives wants to take undue advantage to get the delegates retain them. You guys should not fight among yourself because NPP abr3.

The country is sick, sick of all aspects of administration and caring, particularly, for the children and workers. Please, let us think on this line to look for not on tribal line, in stead, the best person to lead the party into victory, and safe Ghana from falling again. Look at how the Cedi is depreciating. It is a sad news.

How do you explain this 'vodoo math' of yours,when all your MPs and key party officials already reside in Accra,or maintain second homes in the national capital region?
Since you believe money plays a useful and an important role in elections,why don`t you levy the appropriate levey on the aspirants vying for the various offices? Why allow the delegates to engage in 'double-dipping' when we all know that many of you are going to splash sums of money around anyway? You guys should simply pick up the tap, and spare us all the charade!
