Each time I hear of these demolition exercises, I ask why the Assembly or the person(s) doing the demolition had to wait a long time before the demolitions.
If one has a property and really cares for it, he doesn't wait until some takes over it before he start to protest or act to retrieve it. Building houses are not one-day exercises. Some takes months and years to complete for people to use. So where were the land owners or the authorities responsible for protecting such lands, before they are taking over by 'encroachers'?

The authorities condone and connive with the powers that be and give people building permits to put up houses. Why will the Electricity corp and water company supply them with domestic services when they do not have the right documents. Are they going to raze Sodom and Gommorah down too. Can we say the powers that be were not aware of such structures being puup? Those such authorities need to be fired for being irresponsible.

Demolish all illegal structures over gutters, footpaths and waterways. The streets all over the country would then look beautiful. Eyesore slums should also be removed. The cities can be decongested when the infrastructures are in place to open up the hinterland for economic development. That is why it is important that the road networks, expansion of electrification and potable water supply programs are intensified. Most of the people flooding the cities and living in slums would be able to engage in some useful economic activity closer to their home villages or towns.

Those in charge of the area, should be hold responsible because where were they when these structures were being built? Who sold the lands and who issued the permits? People are desperate and that means, there should be strict oversight as to who is doing what is a certain area in Ghana no matter what the circumstances. Corruption is the main reason why these foolish things are happening in the nation.

May, I also draw the attention of the authorities to the illegal structures on the Parallel road to spintex road. With the construction of bridge on the stream next to Papaya, this will reduce the serious traffic from Golden Gate to the Flower pot. All political parties, MPs, youth and business groups need to support the local authorities in the destruction of illegal structures. Forward ever!

Demolition of peoples properties in all respect is inhuman; but, it is also a case of corruption on the part of both the "owner"and people who are designated to superintend over the affected places However,Offenders are emboldened with the issuing of "fake"document to them by people who are with the regulatory authorities and are supposed to know better; but because of money, they overlook such enforcement and rather condone to issue permits to pseudo owners to go on to build. I feel it is high time the government took a critical look at the situation and began to institute disciplinary actions into the system to forestall any of such lapses again. Any officer who is caught flouting the rules should be dealt with. And to also institute a committee to investigate to find out the officers who may have issued such permits .any officer found culpable must be sanctioned to serve as a deterant

As a common people with a common destiny as Ghanaians, we need to respect one another by refraining from the use of abusive language in our comments on a particular topic in view. In my opinion the net is a platform which gives us the opportunity to interact with one another as a people with a common goal, to foster love between ourselves, even though we may not know who;but for the simple reasons that irrespective of the tribe we belong to,we are foremost, Ghanaians. Anyone who chooses to traject in an abusive manner must feel ashamed of him or herself for habouring such a bad mindset. God Bless us all for the peace we are enjoying regardless the hardship we find ourselves

Once again the ugly face of corruption appears. It is a question of finding "something for the boys and you can build anywhere.
