Our leaders always leave room for doubt! Why could Okumkom not be specific about the day of Otumfuor's return to Ghana?
There is agitation that the thief is dead. A latrine boy comes on the air to claim the information is not true. He could have killed the story for now by declaring exactly when to expect the dead man back to life, rather than his 'very soon' prediction, since he claimed to have had the first of his twice daily conversations with him earlier. After all we were told the man who has singlehandedly brought the golden stool into disrepute had travelled on an official visit, so there would be proper details of his itinerary somewhere in the office.
I suspect even though the big liar is probably not dead, because of the many instances of our big men visiting South Africa ‘officially’ only to either come back home in a casket or come home and start a fitness club on the tarmac at the airport but only survive another six months at most before the rumour is finally confirmed, some genius started the story as a joke and it caught on with the masses. The truth of the matter is that Okumkom himself knows that this man would have been a gonner for all the disgrace he has brought on the kingdom but for the fact that he probably does not taste the official palace food. But his time will come one day!
