Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has publicly spoken for the first time in weeks, dispelling rumours that he was very sick and perhaps dead.

The Asante Monarch broke his silence when he met the local Black Stars in South Africa today (Saturday) ahead of their game with Libya in the CHAN tournament finals.

Otumfuo urged the Stars to go all out to beat the Libyans and bring the trophy home.

The local Black Stars beat Nigeria by 4-1 in the semi-finals through penalties to secure a date with the Libyans.

Otumfuo, who has been in South Africa for a few weeks said he had to be in that country for a routine medical checkup.

He said he also needed to go on a holiday and denied rumours that he was seriously ill.

Rumours of the Monarch's death were replete on social media last week, prompting a response from the Manhyia palace.

Despite the denial of the rumour by the Manhyia palace, residents of Kumasi said they would be rest assured only after hearing the Otumfuo speak.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II says he will be among the spectators to watch the game later today as the Stars clash with the Libyans.

I left Mbrom, Kumasi, for "Aburokyire" 33 years back! I know almost all the nuances of Medical Check Up and or Medical Examination in Aburokyire - Germany, U.S.A., Canada & Denmark. It does not take more than a week to get the results of a Medical Examniation and or Check Up in Aburokyire. If His Majesty has been away for more than a month, then, probably, there may be iota of truth in the rumours. What has worsen the situation is that, and according to info from Manhyia Palace, is that his is also in SA on a vacation. Therefore, His Majesty is in SA for Mediacal Check Up cum vacation - hence his long presence in SA. Good! I'm beginning to think that Asantes have taken a cue from what happened to Hon. Alhajia Bawa and Kwadwo Baah Wiredu. They both went to SA for "routine Medical Check Up" and never returned ALIVE!

Is there any truth in the rumour? Well, let's have patience and hold our fire and SEE!

The sad thing is that he has all the resources of this world at his disposal to be well but chose to chase greed, ill acquired wealth, wrongful relationships with Mahama and the Supreme Court and no one ever gave him any healthy advise, as long as he signed on to the national destruction agenda. This man could have built a modern class hospital for his people easily but invested in mansions abroad soon to be taken over by strangers and that is not how one celebrates the hegemony of a culture. I feel sorry for him because the picture does not tell a good story.
