Absolute disaster. Ghana has not problem solvers in the country. They are mesmerized by this soothsayers who are interested not in their flock, nor do they have a real relationship with God. All the like the Pharisees is to walk around in old testament cassocks and garments and preach lies, and prophesize untruths jus as in the days of Zechariah while the people are being consumed with poverty. They do all what God detests and sleep in bed with corrupt politicians who pay fat but despicable tithes. I have lost my hair from scratching my head whenever I read some of these articles, last week the BBC reported on the free falling Ghanaian cedi, and attributed it's devaluation to the fact that Ghana imports more than it exports, nothing in that scientific economic analysis discussed either Duncan Williams or religion.

The root cause of Ghana's economic woes, began in 1966 with the overthrow of President Kwame Nkrumah's CPP government, and the wholesale of Ghana's national assets by successive reactionary regimes, beginning with the National Liberation Council.

National currencies must have the backing of national resources, when greedy, unthinking political leaders sell the nations assets to foreigners in the name of free enterprise/capitalism, then foolishly print new money, with a meager industrial base, today's economic reality is the neocolonial result.

I am neither a believer, a churchgoer, nor do I consider myself qualified to defend Archbishop Duncan Williams, or the church, however, the church is here to stay, whether I or anyone else likes it or not, AMEN.

Archbishop Duncan Williams, did not sell any of Ghana's national assets, therefore mere utterances by him cannot be attributed to the cedi's free fall/devaluation against major currencies. Someone is looking for scape goats and ignorantly barking up the wrong tree.

peace fm reported this on 2nd December 2013.The founder, Presiding Archbishop and General Overseer of the Christian Action Faith Ministries, Nicholas Duncan Williams has slammed and accused politicians of playing needless political football with Ghana’s economy.

The Charismatic preacher says it is time politicians realised there is an urgent need to fix the Ghanaian economy, no matter which party is in office.

“We don’t care who comes and who goes, just fix the economy; feed us; let us take care of our children and pay their school fees and let’s live a decent [life]. Free the economy; let some money be in our pockets”, Duncan-Williams roared at Politicians Sunday when President John Mahama and other politicians joined the church to crown the 35th annual convention of the Church.

According to him, the endless merry-go-round of criticisms portends ill for the country.

“When NPP was in office, NDC people were criticising them that they should ‘get out! get out! get out! We have the solutions, everything they are doing is wrong’, now NPP is gone, NDC has come in and NPP is also criticising them; ‘everything you doing is wrong! Wrong! Wrong! And then they will also come and then NDC will also condemn them and then they will also come and all you are doing is wasting our time”, Duncan-Williams bemoaned.

“Make some changes. Move this country. Change the economy. We don’t care who is in office; we don’t care what party is in office as long as we can pay our children’s schools fees and as long as we can solve the problems of traffic on the highways”, he said.

I believe Action Chapel International (Duncan Williams)is a big church and they have very effective, efficient and intellectual people that works for the government and also we have people who also claim they are opposition but all are under one church. The bishop can pray but can do better than what he was doing. We need holy spirit intervention but......... .

You have a car driving it for 3 good years realizing that the car tire is bad which can involve in accident and kill you instead to change the tires you keep on praying and fastening. I will advice the bishop to call the leaders together find out what is the problem and look for expect rather praying. What are you praying for? My people this is the time to stop all this nonsense ok.

God bless the western world nations just because they have use their brain effectively and above all asked for God intervention.

He knows that any command to the president and his team to fix the falling cedi would be met with attacks from Okudzeto, that free zones man and other paid professional "insulters" so his command to the poor cedi. If the cedi would heed such a command, why has it taken him this long? Poor Ghanaians, I believe people shouted "Amen" to his so-called command.

I have read 86 of the comments on this article. Unfortunately 99% of what I read them are pure insults. Duncan Williams' contribution to address the economic challenge was to prophecy to the cedi. He also prayed for divine help and guidance for the leaders managing the economy. When I read this article, I was expecting the writer, as an economic analyst, to come forward with analysis of why economic policies of past administrations in Ghana had failed and suggest for discussion in this forum new economic initiatives to move present Ghana's economy forward. It is often said, 'one man is insufficient for full the deliberation of an undertaking', so having styled himself as an economic analyst domiciled in Japan, I was looking forward to reading from his article how a nation like Japan, which was virtually destroyed during the WW2 was able to turn its economy around and become an economic super power that we all know today, particularly what economic policies were initiated and what useful lessons can Ghana learn from the Japanese model to advance her economy. Alternatively, an in depth analysis as to how Ghana take advantage of the benefits of globalisation to build economic prosperity for all. But to my utter surprise, what I read was rather a barrage of criticisms levelled at a minister of the gospel, who, I believe, has a limited view of micro or macro economic theories, their analysis and application, but who, by virtue of his theological training and orientation, did what he thought he could do for the falling cedi to gain value. A missed opportunity indeed!
Many of you know the global economy is facing serious challenges. In western Europe, with the exception of Germany, what we are witnessing is what I call, 'economic holocaust', particularly in countries like Greece, Portugal, Spain, Cyprus, to mention a few. Certainly Ghana's present economy is better by far by any standard than many countries in the world including that of Greece, nevertheless, Ghanaians have every right to expect their present government tackle the economic challenges facing them.
Now to digress a bit, I have known Ghanaians to be a people of unusual accomplishments and outstanding feats who make generational impact; a people who break new grounds and scale new heights; a people who set the pace and blaze the trail for others to follow. You produced a president who was voted by AU as the best African leader of all time, whose statue has been erected in front of the AU building in Addis Ababa. Today, he stands tall as first among equals. You again produced Alex Quaison Sackey, a Ghanaian Diplomat and the first black African who became the 19th President of the UN General Assembly. You finally ascended to the topmost with the appointment of Kofi Annan as UN Secretary General. On Wednesday 6th March, 1957, beginning of the Lent season, you became the first country South of the Sahara to become independent. Liberia observed that day as a national holiday. Many may not be aware of who you are and therefore appreciate what you can do. This brief but enviable history makes you stand tall amongst a comity of nations.
That's why I am finding it extremely disturbing and difficult to comprehend the level of insults majority of you Ghanaians heap on yourselves anytime you have the opportunity to make objective comments on somebody's acts or views on any issue each day. Just take a look at most of the comments written in this column, read them and make your own judgement. For example, Joe in Beijing titled his article, 'Ghana is a moron nation'. Similarly, Akadu Mensema's title is, 'Ghana is full of animals'. I didn't know Ghanaians are morons and animals. If that is true, then it applies to any Ghanaian, both inside and outside, irrespective of your station in life. Are you a Ghanaian and can I address you a fool or a moron instead of a Ghanaian? Is the word 'Ghanaian' synonymous with a fool or a moron? Please judge for yourself!

I dont get what is wrong with this. It is obvious that Ghanaian talk too much. Most sadly is the so called political leaders and journalist engaged in this attack on the bishop. The man has played his part, let every other patriotic citizen do same.
