Tithes are not by force. You pay tithes of 10% of your wages when you are working and wish to do so unlike taxes government impose nilly-willy.

Houdini pleaee tithes today are being collected by force. Look, the state tax collection is the most liberal. If a business does not make a profit the state does not go taking tax from it. if you are not earning income the state does not go taking tax from you. if your income is not in excess of 1440 per annum the state does not go taking tax from you. if you are runnig a commercial vehicle the state only ask you to buy a tax sticker per a quarter. however, the amount you pay per quarter you are made to pay its equivalent on daily basis to thugs who manned lorry stations as welfare fees etc. you enter a lorry station to pick passengers they collect money from you, you load the collect money from you. apart form tithes the church will continue to impose some other financial obligations on you, yet immediately there is marginal imposition of tax everybody goes hayware. however, the call on government to cut out waste is in order. the president must immediately issue directives that elvis should not make a pesewa available to kwesi bnyantakyi to take people like langabel, abdul aziz futah and their numerous warming beds single mothers to football matches at the expense of the tax payer. the government should issue directives for the stoppage of the northern scorlarship. it is long over due. if afrifa as far back as the sixties or busia as far back as the 70s could see the irrelevance of paying allowances to traineee teachers, then it is high time the president should see irrelevance of the northern scorlarship. he is a northerner and he is the best placed president to cancel thst freebie northerners have had too many freebies. the unfortunate thing is that those freebies get into the hands of a few and the clink on to it and enrich themselves to the detriment of government desire to bridge a poverty gap..

Tax is the most powerful tool a gov can use to run the whole country not just the economy. Ndoom yesterday outlined how it can be used to control the economy by stimulating growth in exports,jobs,reducing imports and controlling the exchange rate. It can also be used to promote health by reducing taxes on medicines and condoms and increasing taxes on items like cigarettes to reduce consumption of those items.
All this seems to be above the head of the donkey in charge.When he uses our money to win elections and we end up with a deficit, the only thing he can think of is balance the books by raising taxes.However that policy ends up squeezing business and we up with lower total taxes. The donkey and his team only need to look at historical facts to see the trend for governments who have used the path they are treading.
Whilst I welcome Rev Martey's call for Christians to be more vocal in condemning corruption, I expect him and the other church leaders to be more direct and specific in condemning corruption.We want to hear woyome's name being mentioned.akunfen,vanishing trees etc.

Who does not know that these goods that are imported with careless abandon have to be paid with the scarce foreign exchange? The other countries we admire so much have been built with TAXES and sweat of those nationals. The Scandinavin countries are well noted for being the best countries to live in. If this trend is not halted, no mater which party would be in power, the trend would forever be with us. Since our pastors are held in high esteem here in GhanaThey should rather use their pulpits to re-orientate their congregants to patronize locally made goods, more especially our local food. Our respected clergy should team up with civil authority to build the nation rather than ...........

But they are all crying inside. A military coup may not happen but NEVER SAY NEVER. Plus the situation in Egypt, Lybia, Tunisia are all too destructive.

Please enlarge the NDC pool of "leadership" and pick one to continue Mahama's work for the next 3 years. Yes THREE YEARS is a long time. Don't just dump Kwesi Amissah on us because he is the VP. No, the NDC is a big party with big pool of capable leaders. Even Asiedu Nketiah himself can lead FAR, FAR BETTER than Mahama. It is highly fundamental that our inflationary woes is as a result of imported inflation and to tax the people who are already over-burdened would mean the ruling party has not figured out the plight of the ordinary Ghanaian.Mobbing-up liquidity in the system which currently we don't have in excess would mean exerting excess pressure on the very poor the gov't claims to help to make the Better Ghana Agenda come to pass.In my candid opinion, the gov't must rather boost public expenditure by printing more of the cedi after all the cedi only belongs to Ghanaians and when we assume excess liquidity in the system there and then the gov't can mob-up.Let's not be over-complacent if not so NDC will loose the next election.

Oman Ghana tell Mahama aban se yen tua untaxes, if he can not enforce the laws on the mining corporations paying their fair share of taxes due Ghana government. Why should poor Ghanaians pay taxes to help the mining groups run their operations in Ghana? Its a social responsibility they must fulfill. Mahama can not resort to selective enforcement of the tax code and system as president. If the mines are not prepared to pay their fair share of taxes due the government, they can sell off their companies and ship out. John Mahama you must enforce the tax law as the nation's top law enforcer, in case you forgot as the president. Parliament passes the laws , the courts interpret the constitution/laws and you are obliged to enforce the laws without fear or favor. The miners must pay their fair share of taxes or the people must hit the streets. We do not need their apartheid ways and laws in our back yard. Those leading South African mining companies operating here must respect the laws of Ghana.
