  Lack of foresight.They didn't think about the pros and cons of oil production.Long after independence we don't have any maritime policy in place?All what the leaders think about is how to enrich themselves at our expense.

  Nonsense article. The oil wells and affiliated services are only installed and operating in a small area around cape 3 points....the bulk of commercial fishing stretches from Sekondi all the way to the Volta, how can this small area impacted by oil affect the whole of Ghana fishing resource??

  Going forward, I believe our fisher folks must start doing the right thing by using the right and standard fishing net, they should also stop using lights for fishing. I know institutions are trying their best in policy formulating, but it should not end there, we need to do more to bring sanity onto the sea and for fishing.

  There were only 9 comments before I started to write this piece. All of them except one, expressed lack of compassion and wrote nonsense about the forum. Mr. Kusi Ampofo was discussing about the fishing industry and it's impact on the fishermen of especially, AXIM, ASEMKOW and MANGYEA.
  
  When the fishing season has passed, the Fishermen of Axim, Asemkow and Mangyea fish in the Tano basin (fresh water fisheries) and supply dry fish to the ASHANTI AND BRONG AHAFO Regions. Let us remembe this, the Oil and Gas are being extracted in the 'TANO basin and River DOMUNLI in the Jomoro districts of Nzema. These are within Half Assinie, Mangyea and Bonyere, where fishing is at it's heaviest and impacts more.
  
  Kofi Buah and Sipa Yankey being from the area should know better to protect the fishing industry from Axim to Mangyea.
  
  The OIL and GAS are not being extracted at CAPE THREE POINTS and TAKORADI.
