On my visit to Ghana a few months ago,a friend approached me for financial assistance to set himself up.As I understood it he needed "JUST" five .thousand cedis to visit this prophet who was doing "WONDERS"for people.It took me a second to realize that he was actually serious.I did give him,his wife and kids he presents I had for them and nothing more.I tried to convince him of the virtues of good planning and hard work but that only infuriated him.He said I was "too know" and loudly stated that the fact that I went to the states doesn't make me smarter than him.I have not spoken to him since.

Also hard to believe that the so called government communication team forgot to mention this as one of the crimes endangering our national security. If these practices by churches including Action Chapel, are not egregious breach of the laws of Ghana what is? Looks like Mahama has no clue why he is at the Flagstaff House. He can't manage anything. Neither is he able to fix existing issues afflicting the fabric of society. Next time, when political parties have to elect a Vice Presidential candidate, they should be subjected to the same level of scrutiny as the Presidential candidate to avoid a Mahama like error.

Our useless university graduates, in authority, mostly from Legon, have been conjuring heaven and earth as the only antidote to arrest the fall of the cedi but the more they strain their spleen the more the good for nothing cedi keeps falling. Look, the solution to this problem is as simple as ABCD and I will give only one scenario out a thousand. A British university, Coventry University, is in Ghana offering MSc degree for HND graduates at a cost of 5000 British Pounds using Ghanaian lecturers and Ghana Government buildings. They have centers in Koforidua, Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi and their classrooms are always filled to capacity. This same programme can be offered by our local universities at a fifth of that amount in the local currency but empty pride will not allow them to do so. So now you can see who is causing the devaluation of our cedi. This is one out of a thousand. Have you also considered the ACCA-ICA gap. More to come later....

What will it take, how long will it take and what will be the obstacle to pass a law that will make transacting any form of business in any foreign currency terms illegal? Why do we always allow a simple, trivial and "common sense" issue to become a complex issue? This "dollarization" of our economy has now become a "stupid" problem for us to solve. It will only take a few hours to pass such a legislation. That legislation could be amended later on, if it becomes necessary. I blame all of us-landlords are quoting rents in dollars, hotels are charging in dollars, some employers want to be paid in dollars (so they can gain some money when the dollar appreciates in value), taxi drivers are charging in dollars, "kayaye" want to be paid in dollars, some government officials want to sign contracts on dollar terms, and "church goers" are issuing dollar cheques to the churches. The same people turn around and blame "someone else" for the constant depreciation of the cedi. A (primary school) Class 4 "student" of economics can easily explain to us that such a practice increases the demand for the dollar and thus increases it value (and depreciates our cedi). When did we become too stupid to understand this Class 4 economics?

In the catholic church, a country or the catholic community is divided into Eclesiastical Provinces and each of these provinces has a number of dioceses headed by a Bishop,as much as possible,a native of the area. The Diocese that then falls in the capital town of that Province,e.g Cape Coast, Tamale,Accra, is then headed by an Archbishop. So it is possible that the bishop is being ordained today and because he is heading an Archdioces(Province),he is automatically elivated SAME DAY to Archbishop.This happened to Cardinal Turksin when Amissah died.It is then also possible for others to even grow old and die without being Bishops if at the time there is a sitting Bishop of that diocese or to remain a Bishop till death if your diocese is not Archdiocese. So it is not a title you sleep and wake up to say,oh God,i have been a bishop for some time so i will make myself an Archbishop.These people who take titles have no idea what those titles mean. If there is a priest/pastor online,help us with elaboration.

Some prefer a businesswoman probably loaded with money denominated preferably in USA dollars. You also graduate from trotro to a Toyota car and from there very quickly to a chauffeur driven Mercedes.Isn't life grand for some of our pastors? Why labour and slave for nothing? Can we truly blame some people for going into the ministry in order to improve their lot? Fortunately there still some pastors there who still practice old fashioned Christianity with its emphasis on sacrificial service to others and selfless devotion to the poor and needy.

If people are well educated and knows the consequences of neglecting their own CURRENCY for some other currency, why should people be encouraged all these while to make offering in other currencies other than our own. Is it for show off? Or it is because of some kind of teaching that gives one the impression that if one gives one's tithe or make an offering in some other currency one get some special blessing? Where our country is today is not just the making of our politicians, even though they play a major part, most of us are actively involved. Houses are being sold or rented in Dollars and Pounds. What is the meaning of this? Can the Government and parliament wake-up and enact a law that will make it a crime to price things in Ghana in other currencies because we have a CURRENCY of our own? Pricing things in other currencies other than ours is tantamount to refusing to accept our own as a legal tender or even tearing it apart. GOOD GOD! Let's do something to help our nation. Oh Yes! Election fraud, election fraud and it's inevitable consequences is what' making Ghanaians choke. The Churches new directive means Church members would have to skip making offering for lack of local Cedi at the time of going to church or maybe skip church altogether, Monday-Sunday. This ugly situation is reminiscent of early 1980s when holding the Dollar or Pound in the open was considered criminal. Wow! NDC for you; they're back again with their "buga-buga" tactics when it's obvious they don't have any clues about steering Ghana towards a prosperous course.
