What happened was that he went for the money. His family needed the money so he went for it and the MLS desparately needed the attention for their league. Essentially, after his high scoring performance for the USA at the under 20 World Cup in Canada, he was discarded and just used for certain qualifying games. The reality, is that he should come to Ghana and play locally. It would keep him active and help the local Ghana league get some attention. Moreover, he would be able to get some endorsements on the Ghana end.

He needs a well orchestrated and well designed epiphany with the help of a psychologist who will help him have unshakeable belief. In a few months/years he could stun people again. The body is nothing without the mind. Look at shaolin monks and the amazing feats they are capable of. If Africans with their innate physical attributes could also harness the heighest mental powers, we would be absolutely beyond formidable. The journey is not yet over!

We don't have to waste time discussing what won't bring us any results. We have to concentrate on training for the WC-2014. Freddie Adu should have to sort things out with the U.S. and his current club or forget about football and go to school; that's the best option for him right now, the way things look. Guys like him will always betray Ghana. Leave him alone!

I read in the Washington Post that Freddy had stated the wonders he was going to be doing in the 2006 worldcup.
When ever the media asks him about his life in Ghana; he brushes it aside and usually says, 'that part is gone and would like to discuss the now and the future.
He is yet to play a world cup game (senior level) -Adu stated he'd perform wonders in 2006 WC (Washington Post).
He was used to promote corporate America. He was overwhelmed, used and above all exploited for money.
Now he has been clubless for a couple of months-wouldn't any MLS want him or he has been exposed.

Freddy Adu,and all those other players who chose to sell their services to the richest bidder should not expect to be handed any type of support now or after they retire. They have every right in the world to play for whomever they choose and we have every right to boo them at every given chance.A fair trade. That should be the end of it.We don't want another pathetic DESAILLE like episode where after they have been used and thrown out by the West they scamper their way here and expect a national job coaching the very team they rejected.AS FAR AS I AM CONCERN AFTER THEY RENOUNCED GHANA TO PLAY FOR OTHERS OUR PRAYERS AND SUPPORT ENDED.

98% of Ghanaians would have taken the opportunity that was available for Freddy Adu. Remember that there are no proper structures here. Our current Black Star players have profited from the good structures of the developed countries. What was the state of our black star when Freddy was budding. If he had opted for Ghana his situation would have been worse than now. Currently the worth of Freddy may even be more than any of our black star players. Did we even invite him. Our structures are weak. Instead of you to discuss the condition of your POTATO Accra sport stadium pitch. Worry about yourselves. Don't worry about a US trained person.

Ghanaians often would prefer for locally trained players to make it. The foreign born or foreign trained are recruited as a last resort. I would blame the GFA in the case of Welbeck. With the proper approach, Welbeck would have played for Ghana and we would have a devastating combination with him and Gyan up front. Finally, Waris looks like a good partner for Gyan but he is still not the quality of Welbeck. We should have had Welbeck.

INSTEAD OF US TO BE DISCUSSING HOW WE CAN MAKE OUR ACCRA POTATO PITCH TO BE BETTER WE ARE DISCUSSING THE UNNECESSARY. DISCUSSING FREDY ADU? YOU GUYS ARE FUNNY. YOU WHAT TO WIN THE WORLD CUP AND YET DO NOT HAVE A SINGLE GO SPORTS STADIUM HERE IN YOUR COUNTRY. GOD WILL NOT BE FAIR TO THE REST OF THE WORLD IF HE GIVES THE WORLD CUP TO US. WHY? BECAUSE WE HAVE NOT PREPARED OURSELVES FOR IT. WE ARE NOT A GOOD EXAMPLE FOR THE WORLD TO EMULATE. IF WE WIN THE WORLD CUP, THE WORLD WOULD WANT TO COME AND SEE GHANA AND OUR INFRASTRUCTURE AND IT WOULD BE A MISMATCH. LET US FOCUS ON WHAT IS NECESSARY LIKE HOW TO GET A GOOD PITCH FOR OUR TEAMS. PLAYERS IMPROVE WITH GOOD PITCHES. WE ARE CONVERTING OUR PARKS INTO HOUSES. VERY SOON OUR SKILLS WILL BE LOST. SOMETIMES GHANAIANS MARVEL ME BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE THE BEST AND YET YOU WANT TO PORTRAY TO BE THE BEST. THE DAY THAT THE DEVELOPED WORLD DECIDE NOT TO ALLOW FOREIGNERS TO PATRONIZE THEIR LEAGUE THAT WOULD BE THE END OF OUR BLACK STARS. WE DO NOT THINK ABOUT THEM. WE ARE DOING WELL AND QUALIFYING FOR THE WORLD CUP BECAUSE OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF OUR PLAYER OUTSIDE. LET US ENGAGE OUR MINDS WITH VERY TOPICAL ISSUES LIKE THE DEVELOPMENT OF OUR DETERIORATING INFRASTRUCTURE.
