the govt needs to implement measures that ensure the wealth of the nation remains with the people of the nation and for example introduce measures the discourage the gold mines frome continually siphoning out the money instead of investing in the economy , encourage the establishment of processing plants and factories instead of all these foolish procurement contracts , facilitate the easier return of our diaspora but ensuring a fair judiciary and institutions of state that function instead of all these corrupt sheriffs that only think of themselves . it doesnt matter which party is in power as long as they focus on the unity of the people and avoid anything or action that creates second class citizens . i say nationalise the gold concessions now or there will be a bloody revolution before the year is over and the country will fall apart . bring people who are fair a, competent and have integrity instead of these greedy barstards who lie so much that they themselves dont know what the truth is . stop the tribalism and introduce a system whereby merit and hard work are rewarded instead of all the propaganda mudslinging lies you serve us everyday , in short start to care so the people can show you love

At least you will think that tax is accessed on every natural resource exporter out. For example if Tullow is shipping out 100,000 barrels of oil at $100/barrel, there should be some sort of tax accessed to it. Corporate taxes in the USA is 35% so you can imagine if Ghana access 30% corporate tax on all natural resources leaving the country. Naturally, these companies will save some money in Ghana to run their businesses. In short, Ghana needs to tighten its taxation methods and get rid of corruption.

This nose dive of the economy didn't start yesterday but is due to stealing and all sort of economic mismanagement since beginning of 2009 and that is having the dare consequence now.

First of all the problem with the depreciation of the cedi can trace its source from the unprogressive, and if you want, the oafish policies instituted by the notorious dictator Rawlings, that is the structural adjustment program. This has led to the import driven economy. The adverse effect of which is the imbalance of trade problem, that we are experiencing now, and its concomitant and unwarranted demand for foreign currency. This bogus policy allowed multinational firms to take over our factories and resources, and what this means is that they repatriate huge sums of foreign exchange putting further pressure on the already weak cedi.

Another cause of the problem is fiscal indiscipline on the part of a government .

I suggest that the government with the help of stakeholders institute a non-partisan, comprehensive and well thought out plan to reduce the imbalance of trade problem.

Now he is looking to external aid after misusing all state revenues to ensure his tainted electoral victory. The economic decline did not start with the fall of the cedi. It has been going on for 5 years but he has been in denial.

How short is your short term, Mahama. After all these years as a parliamentarian, Deputy Minister of state, Minister of state, Vice president, and finally president of the republic of Ghana, if this is all you could tell Ghanaians, then there is something wrong with you.
In fact, you are a disgrace to your party, and the nation as a whole. I cannot imagine how the good people of Ghana could endure the current hardships to the end of your so called short term. You had all the privileges to steer the affairs of this country during the first term of the late Prof. Mills because the latter was virtually blind leaving you in-charge of affairs.
After the mystery surrounding the death of Prof. mills,you stepped in his shoes, and the expectation was that, with the dearth of experience in government you were going to excel to bring hope and prosperity to Ghanaians.
Regrettably, you've only proved yourself to be clueless, visionless,and incompetent, only interested in the privileges attached to the office of the president. Ask yourself the value you've added to the Ghanaian economy since you took over as president.
Calculate all the benefits you've enjoyed since you became president, and assess yourself if you are fit as president of the republic of Ghana. No value created! period. You are running the country with 'school boys' whose main objective is to loot for a brighter future for themselves. Personal aggrandizement is their main objective.
We govern and run a country with people who have distinguished themselves as self made men and women in life. They have everything you can think of, their children are well educated, and they live life worthy of emulation. The wealth they've acquired was not from politics, but acquired through hard work. If you dare to investigate them, they've honoured all their tax obligations.
Such are the men and women who are brought into politics to let their experience bear on the smooth transformation of the country.
These school boys ministers cannot even fill Assets Declaration Forms, because they had nothing before their appointments. Check and find out if all your school boys ministers have completed filling their forms and when was it consummated ? They rushed on assumption of office to steal and loot from state coffers before submitting such forms. How do you develop a country like that.
All student leaders in the universities after acquiring their first degrees join the campaign trail of political parties, particularly, the NDC, who lack competent men and women, with the hope of landing on political appointments, and used such positions as launching pads to enter the Law School to legitimize their appointments. This attitude started during Rawlings 31st December coup, and has continued up to this time.
JAK did not use school boys, and that made his government very successful. If there were students at all, they were few, and were not ministers of state.
Unfortunately, the NDC hasn't got the men competent enough to steer the affairs of this country, and Ghanaians will continue to suffer because what John Mahama is doing is not governance, but Crisis Management. And his government is not even competent in managing the Crisis effectively.

Canada,was the first country in the WESTERN BLOCK,that came out of the 2008 recession,because there is a brainy of the brainy,of the brainy economist,who solved their problems for them.
President Obama saw the good work that guy did,so he solicited his help for the US ECONOMY,to be salvaged.
The guy helped and great impact was achieved for them,to change things.
The German Chancellor,also saw these,so she organised her economic team to came to Canada,to meet the later,s economic team,and there was an economic breakthrough for the Germans,in the end.
BOTH THE US,GERMANS ARE VERY TALENTED,POWERFUL,BRAINY PEOPLE,but they needed help,and asked for it,at the time when things were getting out of control.
WHY SHOULD MAHAMA & HIS "GUINEA FOWL POLITICIANS" relax on this very serious,dangerous times,Ghana is gliding through,and not seeking the much needed help,from the experts we have?

We must put in place a plan to exploit and utilise our resources for the benefit of all our people. This includes skills training in strategic areas, and acquisition of technical and managerial know-how.

We must stop giving concessions to foreign companies and learn to do things for ourselves.

We must add value and export more goods than we import.
