In all sincerity, both sides are wrong. When this issue came to the fore, there were so many protestations which demanded immediate resolution.
In as much I don't agree with Gbevlo, we also have to mention that the UG is not an Island unto itself and any important decision that will affect students must be taken in consultation with the latter. Laws are made to be obeyed and broken but procrastination is also a thief of time. Had the powers that be acted acted swiftly, this would have been avoided. Now that Gbevlo has taken the laws into his hands, the powers that be will act swiftly to resolve this.

We want good roads to drive on, we must pay for them.Last Saturday, I went on the Pennsylvania Turnpike and the toll was $10.20. If I drive from Alexandria in Virginia to New York City I would pay bridge and road almost close to $40 each way.The toll is used in maintaining the roads and bridges. UG must be allowed to toll their roads. The money would be used in maintaining them. Ghanaians must learn to pay for things.

What about if the University of Cape Coast and KNUST also decide to toll, what will be the effect on the people leaving in the villages on the campuses. The Vice Chancellor and his outfit must be made to face the full rigors of the land for causing financial lose to the university and must be surcharged.

This is the type of lawlessness that has resulted in numerous judgement debts against the government. People in government just act "by heart" and then get the government into legal trouble.

How does this matter fall under the jurisdiction of the national security outfit and under what authority have they demolished the structure?

Obviuosly the university was within its right to build this structure on its land. I am also assuming that they had the requisite permit from the local government to do so, and even if they did not, then it should be a matter for the local government to deal with and not "national security".

The University of Ghana should sue the ass off this caricature and his security outfit. This is when we need the professors in the law faculty to show their stuff.

I am surprised that UG where lawyers are trained, the authorities there have decided to join land guard activities that have promoted illegalities especially in tema and Accra. The law demands that any person or group of persons who want to build a perminent structure needs to have to the requisite documents including building permit from the appropriate authorities before doing so. Did the UG authorities have building permit before building the toll boths at the entrances to the university?

Some of these politicians have no solutions to offer to age old problems; all they do is look out for opportunities to take cheap shots at hardworking civil servants with `balls` enough to take drastic measures to deal with simple problems that brainless people with no `balls` want to complicate. Didn't you know it was a security threat to human life and also a strain on the economy as people couldn't go to offices and various destinations in the morning as a result of that stupid booths?
