For this commendable order of companies, hotels, schools and real estate owners charging in cedis instead of dollars, our task force and monitoring agencies should be educated and up to the task. Over the years, we have been complaining how our graduates don't have jobs etc. In developed countries, enforcement agencies create a lot of jobs for its citizens. Just like the EPA, FDA, ECG, GWSC and the newly created task force to ensure the de-dollarization of the economy, when rightly enforced, will go a long way to improve employment conditions in our country. Let us be serious with our enforcement!

Madam ignorant minister, the card payment companies (Amex, Visa, MC, etc.) all pay the hotels in dollars in their preferred accounts overseas. This government is so stupid!

This seems good but is another waste of public money. This measure will increase the activities of the black marketers at Cowlane. unless this is accompanied with demand that all foreign tourist covert their monies at approved banks, it will lucrative for those who work at Cowlane. People have been quoting SA as example, but remember that money exchange in Sa is very mechanized such that tourist at departure points can change back unused local currency. Can Ghana afford that? It is another joke and temporary indeed. quoting in dollar has nothing to do with the fall of the cedi.

The issue should be stretched to include the issuing of VAT receipts in such places. In Adenta alone, I counted nine (9)Guest Houses that were not using the GRA receipts.

The issue should be stretched to include the issuing of VAT receipts in such places. In Adenta alone, I counted nine (9)Guest Houses that were not using the GRA receipts.
When compelled to respond to the question of "why will you not issue VAT?" the answers were mostly, 'they don't ask for it'.
SUGGESTION: 1.Employ 500 polytechnic and varsity leavers with accounting,economics and finance background. 2. Take them through specific training towards public education on the need for patrons to insist on taking the VAT receipt. 3. Charge them to carry out periodic auditing of the receipt books at the service centers. 4. Post 50 of such corps of persons to each region. 5. Ensure their monthly stipends are regularly paid to them.
