Every leader in the country and especially Otumfuo must be ashamed to travel abroad to seek for medical check up while your people are suffering because of lack of quality health care infrastructure like modern and high equipped hospitals which can treat Ghanaians without classifications.

Tribal differences has always been there but it became pronounced only during JJ'S ascendency to the head of Govt. Remember opposition to Govts' excess has always started in KSI and apparently to cow the people down JJ's revolution paid special attention to the Ashanti region. If you remember the curfew days you will understand what I am talking about. The national Intelligence spear- headed by Kojo Tsikata also employed the divide an rule tactics to the full. Suddenly Ashantis and their King were bad people and they must be hated. Otumfour Osei Tutu came in at a time that the propaganda against Ashantis was at its highest. The hatred and lies about the current Asantehene is not because he is different from his predecessors, it is mainly because he represent the great Ashanti nation whose rich history and culture must be undermined. Added to this is the coming into being of the internet and accompanying social media structures. Any body can log onto web sites and speak out whether they are lies or the truth.
I know the current Asantehene in person. In private life he is clean and very likable. If people really know that he offended laws in other countries why don't they openly come out with their facts and get him arrested. In Canada and Britain the law does not spare anybody and therefore if the Otumfour was a wanted person they would spare no effort to go after him no matter where he "hides" in the world.

His only son, Kwame, who used to help him, was currently in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and described his predicament:

But I ask: Why is it that your name was mentioned in the Ghana Police Headquarters cocaine disappearance saga? Was a testimony not given by a witness to the effect that some of the bags of cocaine were deposited in your palace? Why should your name have even been mentioned at all?

Secondly, is it not true that you are a fugitive of the Canadian justice system? Did the Canadian police not issue an arrest warrant against you for some crimes you had allegedly committed?

My understanding is that Asante Customary Law and Tradition bar the king from suing or being sued for tort. Put simply, Otumfuo cannot appear in court.

If the rumours doing the round is true that Otumfuo went to South Africa for medical treatment, then he has not set an example. Rather, the king and his ministers should influence the Mahama Administration to upgrade medical facilities in the Ashanti Region and in Ghana as a whole. So that Ghanaians will seek medical care in Ghana. Otumfuo and his chiefs should also have holidays in Ghana to support Ghana's economy.
