The goalie in a penalty situation has only about 10 % chance to save it, so normally he will maximize his chances by picking a spot and diving there. Well, in this situation, the Uruguayan goalie had dived out of the way. But Asamoah Gyan had to score a 'spectacular penalty goal', so he kicked the ball hard into the post. Whose fault is that? It's no longer Suarez's fault. Suarez was playing to win. Gyan was playing for history.

Baby Jet Gyan, apart from his impatience and refusal to yield to Tornado was beaten by the "Demons of Bad Luck". His shot earmarked for the corner of the goal-post unfortunately the Jabulani ball flexed in mid-air and as such it hit the corner of the goal-post. The same thing happened to Trezeget of France in WC 2006. Life must go on.

If we meet Uruguay in WC2014, it will be settled differently by a superior goals margin attained by the Black Stars in regulation time and not by a penalty a shot-out.

the match was already in extra time when adiyiah's goal bound header was blocked by Suarez. after Asamoah missed the penalties it went straight to the PKs.
