The truth of the matter is: Akufo-Addo's campaign owes tens of millions of dollars (and pounds sterling) to those who financed it --possibly in return for mind-boggling gains when he became president.

-His diminutive stature does not make him an appealing choice of a leader for many independent voters
-He is not naturally likeable and is still perceived as arrogant
-In the legal tussel that followed the last elections, he was asking for the cancellation of about 4.6 million votes so that he could become president and this will be used heavily against him in 2016. Why should I vote for someone who was asking for my vote to be cancelled.
THE NPP COUNSEL OF ELDERS SHOULD START THINKING AND SERIOUSLY CONSIDER CHANGING THE FACE OF THE NPP IF THEY WANT TO HAVE ANY CHANCE OF WINNING THE 2016 ELECTIONS.

The undeniable fact is that Nana Akuffo Addo cannot attract the votes of floating voters and hence the reason why he will always lose any election. Only die hard NPP supporters have been voting for Nana but to win a presidential election in Ghana, a candidate must appeal to both his party's supporters as well as the millions of floating voters whose votes cannot always be assured except the candidate is able to woo them to his side.

Now, how can Nana Akuffo Addo woo floating voters with such reckless and desperate pronouncements such as "we must win the election at all cost because Ghana has struck oil" and also "Yen Akan fuo" to summon all the Akans against the other ethnic groups to enable him win. Even level-headed and patriotic Akans who are floating voters will reject such a candidate because he is not fit to rule the whole nation since he has shown that he is a tribalist at heart. To make a bad story worse, Nana Akuffo Addo now adds "ALL DIE BE DIE" to his list of politically suicidal statements. How can such a candidate win a national election?

If one takes these politically ill-advised statements and weighs them against Kofi Koomson's earlier warning to Ghanaians that Ghana will not be safe if Akuffo Addo should become President as well as Kwesi Pratt's revelation that Nana Akuffo Addo wakes up with a cloud of wee smoke all about him, you can understand that such a person can hardly appeal to people outside the NPP. This is what Dr. Arthur Kennedy is alluding too when he put it diplomatically that the NPP lost twice in a row probably because of the kind of candidate they put up for the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections.

I wish the NPP will remove the scales from their eyes in order to let them see the reality and to present a candidate for 2016 with less negative baggage so that they can also appeal to floating voters. If they don't, I am afraid defeat is already staring at them with an Akuffo Addo ticket for 2016. In fact, other negative issues like the DRILL SHIP etc. can be avoided if Akuffo Addo is sidestepped for a cleaner candidate.
