You deserve to live in your filth in Ghana. Thanks to Nkrumah you can read and write, drink treated water and enjoy the wonders of electricity. You should really thank your creator that it was not any of your corrupt minded party leaders who who led Ghana to achieve independence else you would still be walking from your village to the nearest town in Ghana. What a typical Ghanaian midset: ingratitude, self seeking, coniving, manipulative, scheming and plotting, sabotaging and conspiratoral and above all corrupt minded lacking critical and anlytical thinking. His system of governance,I never bought into it,because I witnessed it,from infancy.
Many of his policies were not pointing to unity in Ghana,but Africa.
What I hated as a child about NKRUMAH was his SCARF,that we were all forced into wearing,in such a hot climatic condition.He never had any clue that GHANA wasn't like RUSSIA with the coldest weather in the world,therefore that scarf was appropriate for them.
The YOUNG PIONEER MOVEMENT,was a total waste of time and our finances.
HIS COMMUNIST TACTICS AND TOTALITARIAN ,AUTOCRATIC,RULE wasn't something I never BOUGHT INTO.
There was no freedom of speech,therefore,he did whatever suited him best,even if it was impregnated with mistakes.
He was an opener but stretched it too much that,it became a burden on GHANAIANS.
If he might have bonded well with the other guys,who were in opposition to him,GHANA might have become A HEAVEN ON EARTH,BY NOW.

It would have been enlightenment if someone like you had understood what the council said but then the capacity for understanding eludes even the best amongst us. As you have read from even this partisan Christian council, it is the inability of Ghanaians to agree to disagree as a civilized society that contributes to our inability to make progress.
For even in the United States of America some of the states wanted to be free from the republic. The same is true between UK and Ireland; these are lessons Nkrumah learned. And as the saying goes a fool is one who does not learn from past mistakes and or mistakes of other; Nkrumah indeed proved he was smarter than all of the other idiots holding PhD’s at the time who would think their PhD was a license to govern Ghana. Nkrumah knew that the people of his time who had learned from the colonial masters that being in the opposition obligates one to stifle progress decided that a unitary system would eliminate the stupidity that immature multiparty system would bring. He has been proven right because our multi-party system has led to tribal polarization and party discourse only fit for uncivilized countries but for which we practice. A unitary or unicameral system did not forbid people from voting their conscience in parliament. Whoever you are, kenkey warriors, there were Ghanaians getting training in USSR and Ghanaians in Russia today as we do in every socialist communist nations of the world. So as you hypocritically blame Nkrumah at the very least you could begrudgingly give credit to his smarts; the United States of America, the greatest nation on earth derives is richness, power and intellectual prowess because of the mineral, natural, economic and human resources each state brings to the republic. The same is true of the Caucuses that make up Russia, or China and other emerging market nations. Nkrumah was ahead of his era and no amount of hatred from intellectually inferior Ghanaians and outside agitators will relinquish that flame. Ghana is dead because of people like you cannot measure up to the following sets of questions or standards from a Christian songwriter:
If you do not contribute to the development of Ghana then who should?
If it is not me then it’s should be you; If it is not now then when; If it is not here in Ghana then where
We all bear a responsibility in wiping the pain on the faces of Ghanaians because we are the salt of the earth within the confines of a shinning nation on a hill.
You must love Ghana in its current status then and that only enplains your thought processes.

It's a slow day in a little town in Ghana. The sun is beating down, and the streets are deserted. Times are tough, everybody is in debt, and everybody lives on credit.

On this particular day a rich tourist from Nigeria is driving through town. He stops at the hotel and lays a $100 bill on the desk saying he wants to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one to spend the night.

As soon as the man walks upstairs, the owner grabs the bill and runs next door to pay his debt to the butcher.

The butcher takes the $100 and runs down the street to retire his debt to the pig farmer.

The Guinea Fowl farmer takes the $100 and heads off to pay his bill at the supplier of feed and fuel.

The guy at the Farmer's Co-op takes the $100 and runs to pay his debt to the local prostitute, who has also been facing hard times and has had to offer her "services" on credit.
The prostitute rushes to the hotel and pays off her room bill with the hotel owner.

The hotel proprietor then places the $100 back on the counter so the rich traveler will not suspect anything.

At that moment the traveler comes down the stairs, picks up the $100 bill, states the rooms are not satisfactory, pockets the money, and leaves town.

No one produced anything. No one earned anything. However, the whole town is now out of debt and now looks to the future with a lot more optimism.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how the Ghana Government is conducting business today.

The Church has been very influencial in Ghana since the Gold Coast era till date. Yet, one need not put on compound lenses to see the downward trend taken by most Churches today. As light if all we give is darkness, then great is that darkness. Nkrumah was overthrown for reasons most Ghanaians readily accepted, and had situations improved, his name would be mentioned with curses attached. Is Nkrumah the only right thinking Ghanaian ever to exist? Can't the Church learn from the quakers and the early reformers? If the Church believes The Lord Jesus is coming back, why are they keeping all their monies with Banks whilst children of Christ begs for bread from satan, and the banks rather uses those monies from the children of God to run their businesses? Is it lack of faith in God? Insensitivity? Selfishness? Greed? OR Irresponsibility? Is it not possible that the cost of 4 jets owned by one pastor can employ over 5000 youth of that country just to clean their cities? what if all church funds are directed towards economic upliftment of the nation? Should the Church put all the burden on the government??? Christ Jesus is the PERFECT example to follow, not Nkrumah, for many people supported his overthrow in Ghana. If we lack wisdom, lets ask God, and be willing to live righteously, not selfishly. Praise God.

I do not not believe this Rev. Minister is speaking for the Christian Council. I am surprised in the first place that a Christian Council exits in Ghana. Where was the Christian Council, when after the death of President Mills in 2012, the Ndc government and party aired television and audio programmes which sought to depict the late president, sitting on the right hand of God. Did the Council raise any protest to this sacrilege? And this is the very foundation of the Christian faith.
The secretary talked about Nkrumah vision, what vision? If the Secretary is so thrilled by what he calls a vision, he must head for Zimbadwe where a living advocate of Nkrumah's vision is president.
Political polarization, yes, we all cannot think alike and therefore cannot belong to the same political party and yet we are all Ghanaians. In Nkrumah's time, political opponents suffered prison sentences unjustifiably and even death. Is it what the Secretary of the Christian Council wants us to go back to? Stunted growth? The secretary must read the economic news of Ghana with an open mind.
If the Secretary cannot be bold to point the ills of this government he will do well not to draw the opposition party into this mess.

The second problem is that Gaddafi gained power and ruled his people at the point of a gun that brings about death and destruction. Think Oppong because your British masters ruled over your ancestors not from classrooms but at the butt of a gun, chains and whips. You do realize you still talk like one with shackles on the brain. For some of you in the UK cleaning feces at nursing homes for money are your daily rituals yet you will not do the same for your own kind in Ghana; you're so polished. Many countries had to go sort-of MILITARY before their democracy.....eg Germany,France,Greece,Italy,......this brought some LEVEL of DISCIPLINE as a BASIS for development!!

If the christian council can embark on preaching depolarization to christian and instil their hearts with God's love and make sure that, polarization is totally eradicated from the christian dome, Ghana will be 90% polarization free, because Christians are the dominants of the country and occupies most of the institutions in which polarization takes place in the country including those that Rev. Dr. Opuni mentioned. Rev.Opuni, you can honestly agree with me that senior most pastors in the country including founding fathers of charismatic churches and members of Christian Council where you reign as secretary allowed themselves to be bought by politicians. Pledging allegiance to political parties instead of God. In fact Rev, you have a point but I think the message of polarization should first be tackled in the Christian council and the churches. Ministers of the gospel should be told to stop turning pulpit to political podium. Our leaders have vision but just that the greater part of their vision is not working for the nation. And also I think ,with the issue of polarization, the country needs to under goes over hauling especially Christian council and the churches. God Bless Ghana.

The Christian Council occupies a very privileged position and must not play to the gallery.
Political polarization is very much the creation of our own constitution and we must accept it and manage it proficiently. 48 years after the overthrow of Dr Nkrumah, I don't think the Christian Council is proposing a one-party democracy with a life president as Dr Nkrumah established leading to the imprisonment of key opposition members which in-turn prepared the grounds for his own overthrow.
There is always that trapping for those who don't want to make present sacrifices for their future development to look back into the past as being better than their present realities. It is like the ancient liberated Israel wishing for life in slavery in Egypt as against the reality of having to journey through the wilderness into the promised land.
There is no human system that can make different people always agree on issues. In fact, multi-party democracy though it appears chaotic, is the most peaceful human approach to political power. It will be a more chaotic situation to ask the opposition to be part of government. Remember, the opposition's ultimate aim is to be on top of power not to play second fiddle to anyone. That is why our democracy need influential non-partisan bodies like the Christian Council to moderate the excesses of the politicians.

A Political Party which has won elections to form a government should lead in that direction/Crusades to appoint equal number of people from diverse ethnic background to the Presidency and all Public Office.
2.Again,a Political Party in Government Should be Humane to Give Out a Fair Share of Contracts to Anyone Who Qualify, irrespective of his Ethnic Background or Party Affiliate.
These two (2) major Changes is the only way Which Could bring or bond us together as one people(Ghanaians) with a Common Destiny.
That is the way forward.
