  It sounds like most of the contributors were not around in 1959 when Kwame Nkrumah proposed free education in Ghana. The same sentiments were expressed. In those days it cost 1 British pound per term for primary schools. The UP argued this would dilute education. But Nkrumah argued we will go ahead with what we had then. Today most of us are products of that policy. So the cynics should shut up.
  Those playing politics should bend their heads in shame. Those who can contribute to strengthening the policy should come out with their ideas.

  You are talking about 1959,please,at the time Ghana had a population of 4.5Million including children,so how many children were at school age at the time?Compare that to today,and compare our Economy of today to the one of 1959.Ofcourse there will be opposition to any new idea anywhere,it doesn`t mean those ideas are bad.But Rain, if we shall be true to ourselves,do you really think this is the right time to make SHS free?Lets talk about basic things like Water,Electricity,Infrastruture,these are some of the things we need to fix and creat jobs for the youth.What will be the scense to keep on producing graduates,only for them to try and walk across the Sahara,swim across the Atlantic just to reach Europe to look for jobs which doesn`t exit?

Isn't this guy who has the biggest position in theif dewuo kufour regime? Didn't he has the most chance to implement whatever he has in his ugly coconut head? Why all these? Today i'm going to ask GOD these, tomorrow i'm going to consult GOD that, why?. Ghanaians deserved better then this thing called nana binladdo, let me tell nana in plain words that the 8 regions out of 10 is not ready today and tomorrow or future to bring the "we akan's npp party " to rule Ghana again, they haven't decided on that yet, for Ghanaians are comfortable now under President John Mahama now than theif kufour who redistributed the nations wealth to his akan people, which they deliberately refused to pay back to mother Ghana.

  That statistic comes from the government schools. What about the private schools ,they are doing well, that means our teachers are useless, or they refused to teach the right thing.

  Do not support POLITICAL PARTIES like you support HEARTS or KOTOKO. They are a GROUP OF PEOPLE who claim they can manage AFFAIRS OF THE STATE for you. You pay them for doing that. You must therefore USE YOUR HEAD and NOT YOUR EMOTIONS to ASSESS THEIR PERFORMANCE. By so doing, Their WORK can be FAIRLY ASSESSED. If they do A GOOD JOB, you RETAIN them. If they DON'T you KICK THEM OUT, and if they are found to have COMMITED A CRIME, you PROSECUTE THEM. This is the ONLY WAY our COUNTRY can PROGRESS.   I would like for any of the learned politicians and educated elite alike to give a name of any country in the developed civilized nations of the world which offers free education and I will eat crow.
  Here are the facts and the deceit coming from the NPP and NDC establishments. In the United States of America, leader of the free Western world, there are state taxes of varying degrees and a national tax that is levied on majority of the citizens. Within each state one will find that there are tax levies for education on homes and other properties including the registration of even motorized vehicles and obtaining driving license. These funding sources pay for education as well as other hidden fees parents pay. The same is true in UK even as the applied levies are varied. The one thing clear about taxes and levies in the civilized nations is that they cannot be replicated in Ghana; our government lacks the ability and zeal to collect taxes and or levies due to support education.
  The people who talk the most about free education, John Mahama, Nana Akufo-Addo and all the ignorant, ego driven politicians know one thing the simple-minded supporters do not know and or are not aware of is the exempt status carved out for members of parliament, the office of the president and the judiciary who do not pay most of the current taxes and levies in Ghana. Are these people not using government cars and living in government provided houses? What levies do they pay? If they do not pay for most of their living expenses (utilities, home mortgages, car fuel, transportation, maintenance and most travels) and collect salaries premised on the cost of living then who is it that pays the bulk of the current taxes in Ghana? In the end even when these ungrateful bastards tout the meaningless free education it is the taxes from the middle income and poor saps in Ghana that will provide the funding sources for this while elephant of an idea being proposed.
  The sad thing is that every fool in Ghana believes in this “ananse” story because the word free, a powerful word captures the imagination of the poor and lazy people alike seducing them into believing there is something for free in this world of ours. If there were real benefits to free quality education why did these people not do so years ago but instead chose to send their children and families outside to gain some of the knowledge from quality education systems in the Diaspora? There is a saying see a fool bump his head but I prefer the saying fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me . The masses in Ghana have been shamed multiples time over because we've been fooled many at times by these slick politicians and educated elite in Ghana.

  Why can't we sit and think a bit but read politics into anything in GHANA. It's a pity that we get people who can't think and see the evil of these so called know much who in reality don't know much, bucause they can't think to know what is good today and what was not good yesterday.
  GNECC, and mr. APPIAH should know that even though they think they have heads on, to many in society they have chiecken heads on thier body, because they are either playing the fool , or just don't know what they are talking about and the impact it will have on society.
