A series of stores (the whole company, the whole corporation, the conglomerate) is the CHAIN.

Just as a jewelry chain is a series of interlocking rings, a food chain is a series of related stores.

So CHAIN is NOT a substitute for STORE as you said.

So when you hear someone referring to the CHAIN, he is NOT referring to a single STORE; he is referring to the CORPORATION.

There seems to be no meaning to FIFA's ranking of coaches and soccer nations. The rankings go beyond reason but finds reason in domains of bribery, deception, promotion, favoratism and sheer lack of good measures of soccer performance.

There are more tricky events in the world of soccer:

(1) Jose Mourihno the Portuguese coach of Chealsea will not play Ashley Cole. This makes it hard for the England coach Hodgson to assess Cole's fitness and skills for Brazil. Cole may loose his spot on the team.

(2)Orlando Pirates of South Africa will not play Ghana's Fatawu Dauda but relegates him to join the bench-warmers. Appiah says Dauda remains number one?

(3) Queen's Park Rangers's coach regards Brazil's number 1 keeper Julio Cesar as the number 3 goal-keeper in that lowly placed team. He will not play him. Just like that.

(4)The Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger has Germany's attacking midfielder Mesut Ozil and striker Podolski in his team. but Wenger will not play them regularly. When he does, he lets Ozil do dirty work in a different soccer position. This gives headache to Joachim Low, the German commander. Remember Ozil scored 8 goals in 10 friendly and qualifying games for Germany.

Thus there is no team in the world that has all the troops ready for the Brazil showdown. Brazil may be the only team getting closer to battle readiness after one thousand and one experiments. Still they have not got any one to replace free-kick expert Roberto Carlos, nor left winger Rivaldo nor ace striker Ronaldo nor the talismanic playmaker-goal-scorer Ronaldinho. Ghana Black Stars are also getting closer to battle readiness but are not yet there. We need the soccer formations, physical fitness, ability to hold the ball, ability to contain dangerous opponent strikers without incurring a penalty, ability to play with 10 or less men, ability to score on any penalty shot, ability to remain composed and return fire if we are down in a match and finally the ability to conquer all teams from the four corners ot the world.

A good coach comes in handy when things are tough and goes beyond the ability of the players. He device a strategy that gets the team a result. We will see your true abilities when things get tough for us.
