We have always played second fiddle to the white men, we have compromised our independence, integrity and dignity because the arrogant, ignorant, unpatriotic, selfish, visionless leaders of today, can give white miners concessions and licences to distroy the farms and pollute the rivers, lagoons and lakes, all for a share of five-ten percent. Any responsible government worth of its name and care for the citizens should think about the welfare and wellbeing of the citizens instead of using the gestopos to chase the galamsey miners from their own land. Until we sit up and think as human beings and find a way to help the unemployed, these accidents will continue to happen. We cannot live in poverty and slavery on our own land,-mister Mahama, this is the twenty first century.Charity begins at home. My condolences to all the families who have lost their loved ones, and the injured, i wish them a speedy recovery. (Source mining policy of Ghana)

Value today:
Gold --- $1400 per oz
Diamond --- from $1500 to $150,000 per carat (depending on the quality)
Bauxite --- $150 per mt
Manganese --- $450 per tonne

Even though today diamond production from Akyem has stopped temporarily Akyem districts must be given its fair share of projects. Discrimination against Akyems districts has been going on for at least the last forty years. A visit to the Akyem districts would indicate the poor state of districts: bad roads, poor infrastructure. The state of the districts is not reflective of the revenue it has contributed over the last 100 years.

People do not know that Akyems and Ashantis are two different groups of people but they are all Akans.and existed as two different states about 150 years ago. They are all Akans and have some things in common. Akyem districts make up more than half of the population of the Eastern Region.

Foreigners and Chinese, Indians and others have no business going into small scale illegal mining in Ghana. Accra is broken and the corrupt NDC III is broken. NDC under Mahama is as corrupt as Jake Obestibe lamptey and John Dwewuo Kufour combined. We need to vote them out and replace them with a national government under Akuffo Addo. Under Mahama, foreigners have taken precedence over Ghanaians because of kakra ye b3 dzi nti. Morrocc company to build houses when we have had GREDA and other realities that spear-headed the private sector housing revolution after State Housing Corporation's fall. Lets replace NDC come 2016 with a united national coalition government led by Akuffo Addo. Its not about NDC or NPP government, but Operation Save Ghana from rot. Both parties are bad and corrupt. Ghana needs a safe pair of hands from an elder states man like Akuffo Addo; where Ghana and Ghanaians will count in her national affairs.
