if import substitution is what you are advocating, where are the tangibles? presently the locus of your government which i dare say is the laziest option is anti-growth and does not support any of the things you preach. too much taxes on everything when we have not initiated any feasible substitutes is detrimental to economic growth. at best it only pushes inflation up. think twice.

my advice; learn to walk before you run. support local industries by heavily subsidizing production through good policies to make them competitive then you can impose heavy taxes on imported substitutes. as things stand now we produce virtually nothing and if we import you punish us with taxes squeezing blood out of our veins.

When I studied Economics from Form 4 to 5 and then in the 6th Form and then to the University all in the 1970s, this message was a drumbeat. But our leaders were only interested in looting the coffers. So I'm highly surprised that Mahama is only now realizing this point. The PNDC under JJ ruled for 19 uninterupted years and what did he do about this? And mind you, he had absolute power. The NDC has been in power for 5 years now. Mahama, you are very, very late.

The fact is that the NDC had always seen Ghanaians as BIG FOOLS and will always VOTE for so long as they give 20 Ghana, Local Gin, Cutlass etc.

People of Volta Region do not get the Lap Tops being distributed!!! The School Feeding Programe does not cover well a largew part of the Volta Region!!! No developemnt work goes on there!! The schools are still under mango trees!!! Most of them are run down and no more what they used to be!!
While other regions have airports and airstrips, Volta region is watching her land proposed by Nkrumah to be used for Airport are being hijacked by estate developers!!
Volta is the only region that has a university wothout any medical school!!
The Regional Hospital has no bungalows in Ho!! The frustration in the Volta Region in terms of no development and hopes for any in the near future is alarming!!! Volta must bargain for any development project before they continue to give their votes to the NDC!!

We want the president to show humility of a servant when talking about people and not talk about people as though they are under him. You have to know where you are and your audiences. Where is this diversification coming from, and the growth expected to be from when there's no real value for money in projects executed, and monies stolen and continue to be stoken with impunity.
