The speech given by President Rawlings on this occasion was superb. The clarity of thought and the wisdom in what he was drawing the attention of our parliamentarians in the Pan-African parliament, Presidents and other dignitaries present to was fantastic. As a continent we have suffered enough and it is about time that we take the bull by the horn and start charting a different course for our continent. The examples of Syria, Ukraine, Libya, Ivory Coast and Iraq were used to illustrate the need for Africa to wake up from its long slumber and unite for the benefit of the continent. President Rawlings hit the nail right on the head. We need bold leaders on the continent like him to act now. Trying to criticize and insult him is a excercise in futility. I am very proud of this true son of Africa and I salute him for always saying the truth. God bless Africa and may its leaders begin to put issues related to the continent on the front burner of their agenda. Like Rawlings stated we have the numbers and the resources to make our voice heard. We should stop playing second fiddle to the western powers and take our rightful place in the global arena. Amandla !!!!!

Kwame Nkrumah is known to have declared "Seek ye first the political kingdom and all other things will be added". I do not often disagree with Kwame Nkrumah insights, but I disagree with this aforesaid declaration. This speech by Jerry Rawlings seem to fall in the same line of thinking. Whether the essence of the speech is what Jerry actually believes or whether his speech writers are the ones who fed his this way of thinking, the fact is economic power trumps political power. The trust is that one needs to develop economic, political and military power concurrently, but economic power must be at the very top. It does not matter how many "excellencies" there are in Africa, they are all comedians. Ghana, and Africa has got to learn that taking care of ourselves economically is the first thing we need to do in order for other people to take us seriously. Lee Kwan Yee of Singapore demonstrated this admirably. Nobody paid any attention to Singapore as a serious player on the world stage until it burst on the world economic scene. Now, everybody listen to Singapore. I still remember when it was reported in the press that Jerry Rawlings was campaigning in Ghana for the people of Ghana not to but soap manufactured in Ghana by Appiah Menkah. I grant you Jerry has admitted himself that he does not understand economics. Now he owns a chocolate factory and the Nsawan Cannery and I am sure he would not appreciate it all if the sitting head of state does the same thing to him. Now he makes such a speech. I wonder if he has grown up enough to understand that short sighted political vindictiveness of the kind he himself exhibited is part of the problem. Making generaised statements for Africa to be respected has to begin with Africans helping each other get on their feet - a Jerry Rawlings helping Appiah Menkah to grow his business instead of sabotaging it. We have to minimize the "skin-pain" attitude that we all have. Our strength will come not from politicians but from the general population unleashed to develop at its own pace.

Rawlings indemnified the suspension and abrogation of Pan Africanism in Ghana's constitution by indemnifying the NLC 'Proclamation for the constitution of a National Liberation Council for the Administration of Ghana and for other Matters connected Therewith' which suspended the 1960 constitution. He also indemnified the NLCD 380 Constituent Assembly Ammendment decree which abrogated the 1960 Constitution. The 1960 Constitution provided for the surrender of sovereignty to an African Union Government. Rawlings decreed, with PNDC 282 and PNDC 253, and appointed people to indemnify the 1960 Constitution and to make Pan African constitutionally illegal in the 1992 Constitution, which he signed as Chairman of the Provisional National Defense Council. Rawlings is anti-Pan Africanism. His party recognized the National Transitional Council as the government of Libya while Qathafi and the Jamahiriya was still in the war against NATO and their CIA trained Al Qaeda terrorist mercenaries. He is talking about Libya and Ivory Coast but his party, the National Democratic Congress betrayed both Bagbo and Qathafi for the same US imperialism that he is criticizing in South Africa. He even marched at the judas of Pan Africanism, KOTOKA'S village on 17 April 2007 to honor him.

I am tempted to call you a bigger fool but it will defeat the purpose of what I want to share with you.
No reasonable person is criticizing what the ex prez is saying,the problem is he had knowledge of the west being scam ages ago when he was in power for close to 19 years.The question is,what did he do about it then?A time when he had more executive powers to initiate this much welcomed call.
We currently have a prez who talks a lot and does almost nothing so people are getting fed up with hearing promises or dreams that they know won't materialize if any from past promises are to go by.
Please learn to analyze situations from both arguments in any debate before you judge.
At the end of the day what do we benefit from denigrating each other?

The issue of the current geopolitical chess game being played out is one thing. The intelligent observer does not need Rawlings to point out the farce, the contradictions and plain lies, the imperial schemings. Rawlings' record, his past history of collaboration with the same forces he now condemns is what matters to the intelligent observer. Ghanaian/African politicians are mute on foreign affairs issues, they beg so much that they can't open their mouths for fear of losing their opportunity to beg.

Love him or hate him, President Rawlings is definitely the most relevant voice in Ghanaian politics today, I would like to make it absolutely clear that I am no fan of President Rawlings, however, facts being what they are, compared to President Mahama, President kufuor and Nana Akufu Adu, President Rawlings is the only unmuzzled Ghanian politician, let the truth be told.

Ghanaian politicians seem to be dead in the water, they do an excellent job of shadow boxing, insulting each other while failing to solve the country's economic problems, and their blind followers continue to applaud them.

Ghana/Africa needs a new kind of politician, politicians who think as people of action, and who act as people of thought.

They act like Gods and it is only Gods who do not have feelings and are unaware of how their actions affect others. For the first time in my life I am on the same wavelength with Rawlings. I have a daughter in Russia and a granddaughter in Poland with my daughter-in-law. I also have friends in all Eastern European countries and I am most disturbed when the west handle the people of Eastern Europe as just things.

Greetings to the most distinguished panel:

I am honored to have been in attendance.

The world is a better place to have had President Nelson Mandala, a wonderful humanitarian, whom I will always think of as a "Freedom Fighter" for which he spent 27 years wrongfully, in prison for; because some powers-that-be thought he had no right to be free during this one way journey. Nelson Mandela is the product of "First Civilization". Africa is NOT a third world country; Africa is the ONLY "First World Continent/Country". Africa is the only continent that is NOT third world.

It is time the world treated Africa as a World Power. Africans must treat African (s) as a first world power and start dealing with the continent as a first world people.

This wonderful forum was hosted by Cheryl Wills Anchor for NY 1; who came to the audience after the panel discussion. Everyone in the audience expressed their feeling which was unanimous when it comes to the victims apologizing to the victimizers; the only people that ever forgive, express tolerance and reconciliation are African People and down trodden European people. None in the audience ever remember any Europeans/colonizer "Forgiving" anyone.

I got there before the session started; I had the honor of meeting and talking to Honorable Mohammed;
a member of the United African Congress, he and I talked about Africans, naming themselves, defining ourselves, as we are the, "First Civilization". When European people/the colonizers talk about ancient times they go back to Greece and Rome. The Greek and The Romans attended schools in Africa to learn from the "The First People", prior to setting up their learning institutions. Greek and Roman history is taught in the most prestige schools; {that were started by en-slavement money. The founders of America were the first Presidents of these prestigious schools}. Most learning institutions would have us believe that Africans evolved from {En} slavement. Not from Kings and Queens the owners of the "first monarchy".

The Europeans did not bring any enslaved Africans to the Americus; all captured/kidnapped/bought Africans were free until they reached the auction blocks on this soil.

Everyone on the panel had spoken very eloquently about forgiving, tolerance and reconciliation, but, referring only to African People being forgiving, being tolerant and conciliatory.

From colonizing, dividing up Africa, assigning African Countries and people to European countries, en-slavement, Jim Crow, and today James Crow Esq. we, the victims, are still expected to forgive. We built the pyramids; lined them up with certain stars, without microscopes!!! We founded the use of microscopes later. (Even though the Geico commercial and the Big Bang Theory’s introduction theme song claims the Pyramids were a mistake and the Pyramids were built by them, respectively). If we demand reorganization that we are the proven, “First People” we could put a stop to such Historical assassinations.

Every country has taken valued, natural resources and people from Africa for centuries and given nothing back; Africa has been used as a refrigerator by the self-appointed richest countries in the, "developed world".

African countries must develop Africa; Africa must bring back their own courts, (The ICC is not qualified to judge Africans). The colonizers must NOT sit in judgment of any African. Africans must establish their own banks, set up rules/laws to keep lawless foreigners out of the goldmines, diamond mines, etc. to pass on to generations in Africa . Every culture looks out for their future generations; African must do the same for African Diasporicly and Indigenous.

My Brother, Honorable Mohammed, we must keep in touch to firm up the plans for our “First Civilization” Conference/Seminar for 2015. Africa is waiting and crying to be saved by Africans on the continent and the Diaspora. Africa is the mother of ALL CREATION, we must do the work the Creator created us to do.
