In WC 2006 Brazillian Coach Mario Lobo Zagaloo took an aged injury-prone and non-physically fit squad to the world cup. The Brazillians were able to beat the Black Stars 3-0 even though we outplayed them . When they met France, there was big trouble due to the French aggressive and highly-mobile syle of playing. The Brazillians should have used a different team selection for that game. Thus Appiah should blend both youth and experience and have a game plan in mind . The team selection must be hand-crafted by the technical staff including Appiah himself based on his own observations and not based on recommendations from coaches from Liverpool or Manchester City. There should be a specific line-up and formation for each game.

Let me use this medium to give a big caution to the GFA about the Holland friendly. It is only a friendly and Ghana must treat it as such. No must win attitude. I am very much because Holland lost their recent friendly 0.2 to France. Even though it is a friendly I foresee a fierce friendly from Holland and so Ghana must take it easy to avoid injuries.

I watched the friendly between Holland and France and it was very rough. I even foresee a rougher game with Ghana. Black Star players who want to go to the world cup must be weary of the Holland match. It will be recalled that Ghana played against Holland before the last world cup. The Holland team did not play as if it was a friendly. Must parts of the game was very fierce almost ending in fisticuffs. At the end the beat Ghana by a wide margin. But what happened in South Africa? I am sure Ghana even did better.

The match against Holland is only a friendly match, and nothing more.

I remember Ghana played 3rd division teams before meeting Sudan, Zambia, and Egypt, and it really helped us!!!

In off-tournament seasons, we can arrange to play any country in the world.
