  Enforce the rules and punish offenders. Mr. Dauda, builders cannot monitor themselves. If developers are allowed to monitor themselves, why hire the public/civil servants then?

  Considering the investment we have made in education since independence Ghana should have been far advanced by now. It is high time we switched to effective and quality education. We cannot invest so many man hours and money on students only for them to score zero in BECE or SSCE. However we must not forget that if our educational system is good but our economy is bad we would just be exporting labor. A good economy is necessary for a good educational system and a good educational system is necessary for a good economy. Our educational system must be purpose oriented.

  "A statement made in Parliament by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Wa East, Ameen Salifu, on the recent collapsed six-storey building at Nii Boi Town in Accra and others in Accra and Kumasi – resulting in the loss of human lives and destruction of properties – has compelled the First Deputy Speaker, Ebo Barton Odro, to direct the Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing to come and brief Parliament on what measures the Ministry was taking to prevent such tragedies from reoccurring".

  The MPs and "leaders" know nothing about what management is about. They think management is only about occupying the positions they are in and driving around talking to people and riding in cars.
  Do these so-called managers understand what controls and accountability systems are? The absence of these controls and accountability systems are what is killing Ghanaians and leading to these widespread corruption, lawlessness and its concomitant poverty and hardships in Ghana.

WHEN CORRUPT PUBLIC OFFICIALS BUILD BIG HOUSES AND BUY BIG CARS THEY ARE GIVEN RESPECT IN OUR COMMUNITIES. WHAT THE MINISTER IS SAYING IS REAL NONSENSE. WHAT ARE THE MANY CIVIL SERVANTS EMPLOYED FOR? What they do is a SERIOUS BUSINESS that AFFECTS YOUR LIFE. Their work is not to WIN like football clubs but to WORK TO BRING THE NEEDED CHANGE YOU NEED IN YOUR LIFE. What they do determine if you REMAIN POOR or see an IMPROVEMENT in your LIFE. INPROVEMENT IN YOUR LIFE means having access to GOOD PORTABLE DRINKING WATER any time you need it, GOOD HEARLTH CARE SERVICE, RELIABLE ELECTRICS SUPPLY, GOOD ECONOMY, WORK FOR YOU TO DO, CLEAN ENVIRONMENT and ACCESS TO GOOD EDUCATION for your kids among others. DEMAND that POLITICIANS GO TO WORK as soon as you VOTE for them to help you realize these things. THEIR WORK is not to TAUNT their OPPONENTS on radio or tv to entertain you. That will not bring any change to you. You don't therefore have to follow them WITH YOUR EMOTION like you do to football clubs like HEARTS or KOTOKO. You pay them for what they do, so DEMAND that THEY WORK to make it possible for you to live longer. It is NOT NORMAL that your PRESIDENT and his MINISTERS TRAVEL outside for medical check-up or service. Ask them to get the EQUIPMENT that attracts them out here in Ghana, so that you can also have access to that. Remember, they are not more human than you. God bless the people of Ghana and Long Live Ghana.

  The Metropolitan, Municipal and District inspectorate division never visit sites where construction goes on. They take their share from developers and contractors to give them leeway. Parliament is a failure and nobody seems to care except the minister must resign echoe that they know but not their job. MPs must pick all laws in the country, go through, amend them add stiffer punishment to prevent recurrence than just the blame game. The so-called tink tanks and the media are also useless except to do their paymasters job to blame current governments when those involved go scotfree. Majority of the public service personnel have been at post for over 20 years and do you blame present government for their inefficiency? Ghanaians lack critical thinking including the acdemia so we shall continue to suffer.

I WILL SAY IT AGAIN, NO MATTER HOW EFFICIENT OFFICIALS FOLLOW THE FUNDAMENTAL CODES OF CONSTRUCTION, THE ONUS IS ON THE CONTRACTOR. ARE OUR CONTRACTORS UP TO THE CHALLENGE? PROPER AND QUALIFIED CONTRACTORS AND ARTISANS ARE THE KEYS IN PREVENTING BUILDINGS FROM COLLAPSING. ENGINEERS AND ARCHITECTS MAKE MISTAKES BUT IF YOU HAVE GOOD AND EXPERIENCED CONTRACTORS AND TRADESMEN, THEY WILL ALWAYS CATCH THESE MISTAKES AND SHORT COMINGS OF THESE PROFESSIONALS AND BUILD A SOUND STRUCTURE. I HAVE BEEN THERE.
