Even France, Germany, UK, America, Sweden you name it would not dare privatise their schools or their health system. All these countries have national health insurance System and of late America has joined the fold with Obamacare. This is done because education is a human right. Before the advent of internet every town or cottage in the UK has a bookshop or library. That is the essence of education.
All these countries have public schools, public health System, public Transport etc. What is the use of government if it can not help her own People? Even countries with social safety neworkt would not abandon them for the fear of civil unrest.
We are already living ignorance, disease and dire poverty so what an utter NONSE$NSE to exacerbate the problem instead of mitigatig it.
Sydney Casely-Hayford your proposal is UTTER NONSENSE.

The school systems in the UK, US and Germany work, because the government has the guts to collect taxes and penalize those who do not pay irrespective of their political affiliations. Additionally there are private schools for those who prefer to send their kids to those schools. And most decisions for the schools are taken by the local schools districts...not some body in Washington. Govt sets standards ..that's it.
Most hospitals in the US are privately owned. China, Korea and Japan are all turning to private schools because of their high SAT pass rate and acceptance to US IVY league schools.

Ghana in a bid to achieve universal primary education by 2015, will encounter difficulties if a proposal to privatize education at the junior and senior high school is recommended by you to the Ghanaian government. Ghana’s economy is mixed; hence the government can allow private schools to coexist with public schools by allowing more private companies to invest in education rather than solely privatizing it
Ghana is a middle income nation with about 52% of its population working in the agricultural sector, 23% in industry, and 28% in social services. The agricultural sector with the largest labour force contributes about 22.7% to the country’s gross domestic products, although it has the largest labour force, the returns and contribution was very low compared to the industries or the social service sector, thus how can workers in the agricultural sector afford education for their children if a privatization policy is implemented? The current inflation rate is at 10.4%, it does not reflect in a corresponding increase in wages and salaries of workers. If junior and senior high schools are privatized, the increase for school fees will be rapid because inflation affects the prices of goods and services. In the long run, the middle income earners and higher income earners will be able to afford quality education for their children, leaving behind the poor rural inhabitants who live below the poverty line. Education is a government responsibility; it should be well financed to revamp the sector rather than leaving it to individuals who will extract exorbitant school fees from poor parents.
I believe that public schools and government hospitals can be monitored and evaluated periodically to assess teachers and health professionals in offering their service, if government expenditures on the wage of teachers and health professionals are high. About two-thirds of the Ghanaian population are on the national health insurance, if the health sector is privatized how can low income earners, the aged, and person’s living with disabilities be given the necessary health services? These are people who depend on family members and support from the government to survive. Individuals and private organizations can collaborate with public schools and hospitals to offer services that will promote the development of the nation

Yes - you are right, but how is the govt doing proving these services now?
Govt - should provide insurance and let folks go where they can get the service the need.

Look at all the senseless privatization going on, which one of them is meeting our social needs. We are in poor country for crying out loud. Many can afford the exorbitant amount private people charge. After Nkrumah was overthrown, all the things he built and wonderfully managed through the state that was privatized, which one of them still exist as a useful asset of the state when in times of need. All them are struggling to hold with most even collapsing. Privatization? say something good a, you say privatization. That's a disappointment of a comment
