Net importer countries like Ghana are bound to face a depreciation of their currencies not to mention the creation of jobs outside their economies with the exportation of their raw materials and the creation of unemployment in their economies.

Manufacturing creates jobs due to the inherent multiplier effect, adds value to indigenous raw materials and strengthens the local currency in the process!

Fitch Ratings has revised the Outlook on Ghana's Long-term foreign and local currency Issuer Default Ratings (IDR) from stable to negative, casting doubts over the country’s ability to service its debts in the future in time.

High: Ghana's fiscal position has worsened further over the past six months. Revenue underperformance and intractable expenditure on wages and interest led to a budget deficit of 10.8% of GDP in 2013, wider than the government's target of 9%.

This, combined with a sharp 20% depreciation of the exchange rate, caused government debt to rise to 61.8% of GDP in 2013 from 48.9% in 2012.

Bawumia's poor and dodgy performance as the deputy governor of BoG, responsible for supervising the re-denomination of our cedi has coe to hunt him. This should be a lesson for all. Bawumia speaks first year 6th Form economics. He may be a Dr in either economics or financial whatsoever but regrettably, cannot translate his so called acquired knowledge into practice. We know that the money from the re-denomination was looted by Kufuor and co and spent on the election mainly to support Alan Kyeremanteng. Remember money carried in the helicopter for Alan presumably, somewhere, from the North North during the election? Bawumia can't fool Ghanaians. He can talk on something else but not on the economy or the financial state of Ghana. Bawumia is best qualified to talk on the 'pink sheets'
