It is the dearth of civilised ways to developing a country that makes some of you feel impressed about the tolling and blocking of access to Legon road policies of this VC and his admin. I am not the least impressed by the farce.

Although I place ultimate blame on the inept Mahama administration, with immediate responsibility clueless Min. of Roads he appointed, a univ of the stature of Legon should have managed to convince the clueless politicians that it was their responsibility to ensure that the roads are maintained.

Ghana is still backward and underdevt for the simple reason that the vast majority of Ghanaians are not yet ideationally developed, and that includes those Legon honchos calling themselves Professors and what not!

In civilised countries, one, including govt bodies, can't just block roads which have been used as thoroughfares for decades like that and impose tolls and charges for stickers like that what's happening in Legon. In fact, you can't even make and extension to your house without permission from even your neighbours. I participated in the surveys that led to the Congestion charge in London and so I have practical experience of these things.
If this man has been re-appointed cos of his recent actions, then those appointing him need to think twice. I doubt if they are capable of coming to a diff. conclusion though. Didn't Ken Kuranchie come back from prison and pronounced that Ghanaians are not civilised, something I knew as a kid? Of course, you the reader knew too except that you never gave it a thought! Think about it: have you ever heard or read anywhere Ghana[ians] classified among the developed nations?

I am 59 and Prof Aryeetey was my senior by 2 years at Presec legon in the mid 70s so he must be at least 60 and going for a second term which will make him overaged. This is for a man but not for a woman.

Your argument is flawed.Do you know Aryeetey's age when he came to sixth form? You were a grown man among boys in Presec. Aryeetey is 56. The records are there so you have no case.

His Road levy is a praised strategy to harrass overdependence on Government for subsidy. To me most of our University priojects should be sourced from IGF. UPSA is a perfect example under the Leadership of Prof. Alabi, the CIMG Marketing Man of 2012. The UG 'TOLLING ' method is workable but adequate feasibility should have been carried out first earlier to estimates its security, profitability and economic viableness.

The location and large tracts of land - both developed and undeveloped - of the university is a nightmare and poses constraint to planning and urban development for good circulation, safety, security and convenience for people living within the proximity of the university. Insteading of the university assisting because of your selfish and myopic interest you rather block them from access other facilities on the other side of side through the university. The university is suppose to train people to develop society not to impoverish other section of society. I am not surprise the is the kind of people the university is producing to serve the country - selfish and corrupt leaders, public servant and politicians. Go and see how KNUST and cape coast is living in harmony with its external environment. Very shame I will say.
