There are reports of no police presence during KNUST examinations especially at the medical school at KATH.

With WASSCE and BECE there is police presence. University exams demand even greater policing.

It is the same as those working in the mission hospitals. Apply for your job with the district assembly and they will assess your performance. Hard working doctors have nothing to be afraid of.

As a lay man I know that parliament is the third arm of government as such, should be paid by central government. Africa is under developed because our intellectuals are dishonest or rather lack logic

What is the rational in asking the local municipalities to pay Doctors?

Is it to ensure the quality of services they deliver or an oversight functions given to the local Municipality

What is the rational in asking the local municipalities to pay Doctors?

Is it to ensure the quality of services they deliver or an oversight functions given to the local Municipality

Where will the money come from - The central government or to be generated locally by the local assemblies. We should be careful lest the local assemblies do no generate enough revenue to meet he demand of their salaries. This may result in chaotic "strikes" that will lead to suffering?

If there is a genuine desire to do this, then why only Doctors. Why not everybody else on the local municipalities work force.

Decentralization without a thoughtful process is most likely to end in chaos. Why not do a pilot program for 6 mths and see if it is workable.

At the end of it all the money has to come from somewhere and I don't think all local municipalities will uniformly be able to raise the revenue to meet this demand.

A word to the wise is enough

In fact,I pity the nation Ghana. We already have a fragile health system with our doctors going on strike every month and for most cases , they have a case. If the average Ghanaian works half as hard as our doctors the nation ...

In fact,I pity the nation Ghana. We already have a fragile health system with our doctors going on strike every month and for most cases , they have a case. If the average Ghanaian works half as hard as our doctors the nation would have been a better place. Now you single out this essential service for decentralization without doing any pilot study on most other professional in a selected districts what do you think will happen ?. If it is to prevent ghost names then there are better ways of doing that. With this behavior , these doctors will be moving out in their numbers at the expense of the tax payer's investment in their education.
