The arrest of one so-called ACDR man who was later identified as a soldier from the Forces Reserve Battalion (FRB 64th) confirmed reports that a significant number of the men in ACDR T-shirts were actually commandos.

The man's pistol, a special FRB issue, was released to the military later last Thursday.

But CHRONICLE has learnt that most of them were recruited from the depressed communities in Accra, Nima and some layabouts at Korle-bu, and as far away as Agona Duakwa, the constituency of Mr. Kojo Yankah.

The Duakwa boys, according to village sources, were not told their "job" until they got to Accra. Several of them returned with broken bones and were licking their wounds. Some of the boys were also picked up from around the former West Africa Secondary School and Nima by Mr. E. T. Mensah and Said Sinare and Jerry Thompson.

The Sports Minister actually briefed some of the thugs in his office and allegedly supplied them with knives, enema and pepper solutions, one sickened employee who was close to the meeting told a friend.

Another Nima resident who wanted to go on record and gave his name as Haruna Adamu told THE CHRONICLE that he saw Jerry Thompson, E. T. Mensah and Said Sinare bringing some commandos who live in the area to go and confront the demonstrators.

Another person, pointed out to THE CHRONICLE to be a thug leader, was seen on motor bike with registration number NG 5703.

An eyewitness also gave THE CHRONICLE the following account after he spotted a suspicious movement and decided to follow.

He said some of the men believed to be commandos left their base around South Odorkor at 8.00 am in a vehicle with registration number AC 621. When they got to Cedi House, near the National Theatre, he noticed them change into ACDR shirts and join their people.

Later they were seen firing indiscriminately into the crowd of demonstrators. Three people fell.

The Minister of Interior issued a statement which gave his heavily doctored version of events which was splashed on the front page of THE GHANAIAN TIMES and DAILY GRAPHIC. He said the ACDRs formed a human shield to protect life and property. But a classic picture taken by Finnish-trained journalist Linus Atarah of PUBLIC AGENDA exposed the lie. Linus was actually apprehended by the menacing ACDRs who was rescued by one of their leaders with whom he had earlier obtained a neighbourly right of converse.

His pictures froze ACDRs clutching stones and cudgels and actually using them to cause destruction.

CHRONICLE noticed that all VAT vehicles had removed their stickers, and some MPs had also done the same.

A security cordon was thrown around some offices. The office of The "Ghanaian Times" was cordoned. The Ministry of Information had more than 12 heavily armed soldiers with mobile communication equipment and old-style sub- machine guns. The area around the Ministry of Local Government and Youth and Sorts was also heavily guarded as the ministers were ensconced in their offices at the time THE CHRONICLE "rescue" team called on Friday.

IN a sick move on Friday morning, the welfare officer of the NDC went to Korle-bu and asked the nurses whether some NDC men they knew had been hurt. The nurses angrily retorted that in the hospital they do not discriminate

It happened too quickly. The transformation of Ghanaians renowned as peace-loving people into ruthless angels of the prince of darkness.

At the price "Zoom Zoom" gin, Indian hemp, C5,000, T-shirts hurriedly churned out by ASHTEAD (3,000 pieces personally commissioned by a serving Minister of State), a crude assortment of instruments of death, fellow Ghanaians shot, hacked and stabbed their fellow countrymen to death during last Thursday's Kumepreko Freedom March which witnessed the largest turnout since independence of Ghanaians united against a regime and its cruel economic policies.

Across Accra, unbelievable spectacles of man's inhumanity to man played out in various forms.

A young man lay dying on the side of Rawlings Park, blood oozing out from around his upper body, life seeping out of him as the seconds ticked by. From nowhere another man suddenly went close to him. For a split second, it appeared he was going to his aid. Then the unthinkable happened. He picked up an object, aimed and delivered the coup de grace, following it up with a rude gesture at the dying man. He wore what had come to characterise the symbol of the ruling NDC party - The Mark of The Beast - A T- shirt of the ACDR, Association for the Defence of The Revolution led by their lanky secretary who is just finishing his posh house at Tantra Hills.

When the police came to the scene moments later to pick the body, the grey contents of the man's head lay splattered on the floor, soaked in his blood. He has been shot.

One of the on-lookers was veteran journalist, BBC's Ben Ephson. A toughened character who had seen some of the excesses of this administration from the time when they actually cut the back of Kyeremeh Djan and forced him to eat it while he lay in detention. Even he couldn't stand the sight. (pictures available)

Thirty metres away, another young man lay groaning in pain, blood oozing from his abdomen as he oscillated perilously between life and death, cut down by bullets from the ACDRs who had been commandeered by The Minster for Youth and Sports Mr E. T. Mensah, (also putting finishing touches to his mansion at Prampram) and Said Sinare, an Egyptian Mossi kid who was spawned in Ghana several years ago and has grown to be the dumbest parliamentarian in the country.

The motive was to terrorise and break up the peaceful progress of the now famous Kumepreko march organised to signal the Ghanaian's sense of despair over the biting economic hardships.

The collusion of E. T. Mensah is almost without question as calls after calls and Chronicle's own intelligence reports and eyewitness accounts put him. Said Sinare who drove round in a BMW with no registration number and later pajero with a car registration number known to use monitored the progress of their Hell's Angels.

As in most civil conflicts there were a lot of stray bullets and definite reports of "Collateral damage".

Young Ahunu Honger stepped out of his house that fateful Thursday around Tudu to buy "waakye". He never returned. He caught a stray bullet in his chest, very close to his heart. He fell. A motor cyclist showed up on the scene shortly afterwards, strapped the lad awkwardly on the back of his bike and sped off to Korle-Bu, some five miles away. Unknown to him, the boys feet were jutting out. By the time he got to Korle-Bu, his toes had been eaten away by asphalt.

CHRONICLE correspondent Kobina Amoakwa described the scene at the Korle-Bu teaching hospital with a heavy heart. He had earlier rushed to the CHRONICLE office from his assigned beat at the hospital to collect money to pay for the injured who had no money to pay for their treatment:

"It was reminiscent of Ernest Hemigway's vivid description of the "madhouse clinics" of World War I - a steady stream of wounded to the emergency ward, nurses and doctors barking at each other as they battled to save lives.

A muscular male nurse who received Ahunu at the door as he was off loaded from the bike immediately began efforts to resuscitate the boy with powerful heaves on his chest as people stared anxiously.

But alas, the rhythmic heaving of the nurse, broke into a staggered mode, and finally stopped, not because the nurse was tired, but because the little child of God had joined his Maker at age "14".

"Young man", muttered the matron in charge, "we prayed unceasingly this morning but look at what is happening". Kobina Amoakwa, had not response to that one.

But beyond the din at Korle-Bu, CHRONICLE's second team led by Osbert Lartey stumbled upon a scene straight from the horrors of the Liberian civil war.

IN front of the UTC stores, he saw a young man hoisting a blood soaked ACDR T-shirt. Asked how he came about the shirt, he said they were attacked in the morning by the ACDRs who went about in an orgy destruction. When they were pursued by a growing number of people in the area, they began to flee. Two of them were overpowered and beaten, and left for dead.

"They appeared to be lifeless when I saw them", reports Osbert, "and they had no shirt on but blood stained shorts and trousers. There was no police in sight".

The policemen had been overworked. While they identified with the cause of the marchers, they appeared to be cowed by the ACDRs. They knew they where they were drawing their power from.

They had instructions NOT to disarm ACDRs according to one policeman who obviously begged for anonymity. The police were to pointedly deny the spate of "Psyops" and propaganda press statements that went over the air and were credited to them.

News trickled in a day before the march that the leaders had been targeted for possible elimination, and this filtered through to the leaders, but they courageously defied the temptation to postpone the march.

Approaching Bank of Ghana, Kweku Baako tried desperately to divert the multitude away from the armoured tanks and armed soldiers and policemen who had pitched in front of the Bank. From the shadows, four men stepped out pistols drawn. A policemen rushed to Kweku Baako and advised him to move off because his Kumepreko T-shirt made him stand out as a possible ring leader. He gratefully obliged.

"The men just couldn't be ordinary ACDRs. They moved like trained pros", Kweku Baako was to say later

The election was conducted at 26,002 polling stations. The numbers were counted and President Mahama got in excess of 50 percent and therefore won.NPP told the four judges that there were errors in 8,000 pink sheets and that the errors went against President Mahama and therefore some votes should be annulled.Justiice Anin Yeboah in particular agreed and fell short of declaring AKUFO Addo as the winner!
Why Justice Anin Yeboah took that angle still baffles me. The worst any Supreme Court Judge could do was to order AN INDEPENDENT ORGANIZATION TO AUDIT THE ENTIRE 26,002 PINK SHEETS TO FORM AN OPINION ON THE FINDINGS.
To base their decision on only 8,000 pink sheets smacks of stupidity and clear BIAS,

Jake should cut the nonsense and focus on finding a better strategy to win more Regions than just Ashanti and Eastern Regions.

The Supreme Court ruled and the NPP accepted the ruling. He is only proving he cannot do anything differently to help NPP win. If he continues to impugn the integrity of the SC, he should be held in contempt of the Court or for defamation of the Court, thereby undermining the security of the Nation.

If he has a case to prove let him file for an appeal. He must as well learn that the NDC could also call for thorough vetting of votes cast in the NPP strongholds, and could unearth similar faults with the Pink sheets obtained from those areas, even if less in quantity. Then what?

The electoral process was not perfect. There were questions on some of the votes and their handling in NDC strongholds. The SC was called to intervene and it decided the errors made were not enough to overturn the Election results. Case closed!!

It only helps the NPP to review its handling of the electorate, pay better attention to what they utter in public, improve its interactions with all Tribes and show some humility and respect to all. The "yen Akanfuor de" posturing scares many non- Akan.Citizens off, thinking the NPP would be vengefully unkind to them if it comes to Power under theeadership of Akufo-Addo.

It is that simple. Take it or leave it. In spite of all the ineptitude displayed by Mahama's Administration, if Jake and his cohorts fail to allay the fears of the bulk of non-Akans, the NPP under Akufo-Addo's Flagbearership would lose again.

It would be better if Bawumia or Allan or Dr. Frimpong Boateng were NPP Flagbearer and someone else were the NPP Chairman.

In fact, I challenge our Lawyers to solicit The Hague for the trial of those suspected to have looted us in Millions, since their robbery must have caused us needless deaths and other hardships. Those wanton, reckless, sturbornly persistent thefts have been crimes against our Humanity.

All Donor entities of the Nation's must be requested to assist in summing up what they have given us and verify how the funds were used. If we are to be objective and apolitical with this, any such investigations must reach back to 10 years or so. And we would have to let the chips fall wherever they ought to fall.
