Necessity is the mother of invention. Whoever first had the idea of igniting charcoal with condoms is a genius! It is cheaper than kerosene and has no sudden fire hazards. The other uses in rivers and in swimming pools are equally genius. It helps reduce health care cost of possible infections as imagined by these farmers.

What I find perplexing about the story is the people swimming and fishermen going fishing wearing condoms. Conventional thinking says one has to have an erection for the condom to stay on. That makes it utterly impossible to swim wearing a condom when there is no erection. Secondly, no one is talking about the health hazards of using condom as an ignition devise. Has the Ghana Health Service and the Ghana Medical School embarked on a mission to educate the people on the health hazards posed by the unconventional use of condoms?
