I am glad my own church has noticed that, 'Corruption which has become the daily bread of some Christians..'.

But the question is what pragmatics steps is the BODY OF CHRIST taking to stop the canker? What message about Christian life do pastors of Christ's flock give to their congregation? And, what punitive steps do churches use to correct erring members?

I answer my own questions and boldly declare that the 'get rich' message which does not give room to God's to decide whom to make materially rich is the cause of the unbridled corruption in Ghanian society. We are in a society which have been preached to, to disregard honest work and applaud acquisition of car(s), build house(s) etc. through fair foul means. Pastors equate material riches to God being pleased with people who posses such things, and regard those without them (no matter how rich they are in real Christian spiritual life) as sinners being punished for their sins in not getting God's blessings.

One further asks if our Churches find out the source of their members' wealth and how they make the monies to pay their tithes, offertory etc? And if they do find out and find the source unchristian, do they refuse those monies and correct the erring member?

THE CHURCH HAS THE BIGGER RESPONSIBILITY TO STOP CORRUPTION, PERHAPS THAN THE GOVERNMENT.

Is the church corruption free? Are some pastors and church members not corrupt? The fight against corruption must begin from the church led by pastors but some would not be able to do so because their hands are dirty with corruption so much so that even if they wash their hands in the Volta river it would turn the river black, with due apologies to Shakespeare. I have never paid tithe and will never pay tithe; I share directly with the needy and I am glad when I do that. Some pastors are causing destruction in other people's lives with their preachings and what they claim they are told by God. Look at boxer Ayittey Powers being manipulated by T. B. Joshua! T. B. Joshua who said if God had revealed the death of Prof President Mills to him he Joshua would have fought against it! Arrant nonsense!! What powers had he? Did I hear the NDC government was preparing to send him to T. B. Joshua on the day he died? I cry for Ghana if that allegation was true for how could people highly educated as they were not know that Joshua was trickster and that death was a necessary end and must come when it should? (with due apologies to Shakespeare)
The church is only good for weddings,naming ceremonies, stressful situations, and funerals but certainly not in the ways some pastors are making us think. We must learn to be pragmatic and that is the key to our development.

Church goers must learn to be critical and question certain happenings in the church if they want to be members. They should interrogate what the preachers say and critically analysed them. They could do or achieve a lot on their own without these pastors who are just looking for money; fleecing the poor.

The bible talks about God commanding only the Leviticus priesthood to collect tithes and even offering. That priesthood no longer mediate between their own Jewish people as Jesus is now the mediator for both the Jews and the Gentiles. Our Ghanaian pastors who are Gentile men of God do not under the laws of God qualify to take tithes and offerings. Where in the bible did God command Gentiles by law or even no laws to take tithes and offering. They are bringing curses upon themselves, no wonder they are not effective like Jesus, Peter, James, Paul and co whom knowing better scammed no one with tithes and offering. The early church leaders rather helped the people with their possessions by which encouraged others to sell their property and distributed among the needy ones. Today, we have turned the house of God into commerce and den of scam practices.

Because these stomach prophets knew they will loose their wages, should they accept Amos’ prophesy, impressed upon the king to send Amos away to prophesise to his kinsmen for bread.

No Bishop,the reason for the dwindling of tithe payment is that the congregations are becoming disillusioned in the church as they get more education through the media. They pay tithe and the see your belly big, you and your family ride in expensive cars, very good accommodations,good and expensive schools for your children etc. You think, they do not think? They are also realising that when they take their destinies into their own hands and are pragmatic they could achieve what they want to achieve. Years of praying and fasting have not helped them achieve what they paid tithe for. Why should they continue. The church is doomed in the next 50 years for it would become like Europe and when that happens that marks the birth of development in Ghana and Africa as a whole. The T B Joshua and others of his kind would incur the wrath of writers of tomorrow on African development for using tricks and putting fear in their congregations to stifle self actualization.

Psalm 34:10 says...'the young lions do lack and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing" Is this not reassuring us to depend on divine providence? It is not because of hardship but the corrupt officials are being exposed so they are not getting the booty to bring more as tithes for pacification. Those corrupt rich people cannot pay more anymore hence, the reduction.
