  We need to build up our own capacity to exploit our oil and gas resources so that we derive maximum benefit from our nascent oil and gas industry.
  
  We must employ local people and train them to work in the industry. Where we enter into partnerships, let us use our resources as equity share in the business, instead of granting concessions on very liberal terms to foreign investors.
  
  We must benchmark at least a 50:50 share in any venture, instead of the 10:90 that pertains with existing contracts.
  
  We must ensure that all investors pay appropriate taxes and royalties through agreements which put our national interests to the fore.
