the problem with this northern mentality is that thanks to jj they now all have an unquenchable thirst for power but never to serve in a team or accept their fellow countrymen . just look around in Accra and study the majority of the businesses owned by these northerners and in the majority of the medium and Small sized businesses you notice they only employ their fellow northerners and practically never employ an Akan . Today in Accra the largest religious building in the country will be the mosque being build on our national park at Nima donated by Turkey confirming the Islamic domination of Ghana. Tribalism mixed with chauvinism and despotism from the north has now equaled the hegemony of the ewes . A.C.C.R.A any criminal can roam about so we have them everywhere now . even at the scholarship secretariat hardly ever is an Akan awarded the privilege to go abroad and study now . The Akans are the majority but because most continue to sleep or blindly trust the other tribes these atrocities are taking place . We look at the political strategy of the NDC and see the typical Hannibal wench when he turned the strengths of the mighty Roman army against themselves as they are doing to the Akans . From the south they use part of the Fantis and from the North the Brongs , from behind we have the chariot onslaught of the Gas Ewes Krobos. Yes the political landscape reflects a war which is only meant to destroy the right of self governance of the God's chosen nation of Africa the Akan . For them its a big deal who leads the NPP but we really don't care as our movement grows stronger by the hour as more and more Akans wake up to reality of this dire situation . We did not ask for this war but we will fight it and be victorious as God is with us . Long live the Republic of Akan

The President's brother leased a plane with borrowed funds the non-payment of which partly led to the sale of Merchant Bank to NDC cronies. The government then decides to put more money in the pocket of the President's brother by chartering this same private jet, all at the expense of the taxpayer. And you see nothing wrong with this? It's worse than Kufuor's son using his father's influence to raise syndicated loans to buy a hotel, which loans he repaid without causing financial distress for the banks involved, let alone their sale. Geez! Where is Ghana going? Mahama is so corrupt!

Also he investigates if Ibrahim by flying the plane to Iran, he is not flouting American sanctions against Iran? He is also investigating about what it is used for, then out of no where he makes his conjectures that The President might have a hand in the aircraft's ownership. Then again the President has used it before and plane was in Davos then in London again after Davos. Quite a pathetic case of a pseudo journalist until to successful hide his hate for both President and Ibrahim, his brother. The went to Davos in the Presidential jet, the Falcon piloted by the Chief of Air staff himself. The aircraft after dropping the president in Zurich, parked at Basel/Mulhouse Euro airport, Basel because of parking space. President after Davos left Switzerland for the UK on board the presidential jet, the Falcon and not Ibrahim's plane, the Bombardier where he called on Komla Dumor's family to express his sympathies to the bereaved family. Ibrahim was also in Davos on his own merit attending the conference as CEO of a mining company and operating in Africa as the Davos meeting had a special session on the Extractive industry in the developing world. Other mining companies including New Mont mining company were also present. From Davos Ibrahim flew to Accra transiting in UK. It appears from reading the article that the President of Ghana, and other representatives of the government of Ghana are using this plane, the subject of the article, for official business. It is reasonable to assume that the owners of the plane will be paid for the service being offered. One may even argue that it is preferable for the government to do business with a Ghanaian company, to doing business with a foreign one.

However, one cannot help asking the following questions:
1. How much is the country paying for the use of the plane?
2. Is there a contract between the parties?
3. How was this carrier chosen?
4. Was it through a competitive tendering process?
5. Is the country getting value for money?

I will not even bother to mention the obvious unease which people will feel, when they learn that Ghana is hiring a plane from a company associated with the President's brother.

As I do not know all the facts, I can not jump to any conclusions. However, the above questions are necessary to ask.

Hollywood Superstar, Brad Pitt has produced a non-fictional documentary exposing what he terms “greed and exploitation” of Ghana and Nigeria by Texas-based oil exploration companies.

The documentary, which was written and directed by Rachel Boynton, an international filmmaker, takes viewers behind the scenes and gives them exclusive access to boardroom discussions as oil company officials show how much they are interested in making maximum profits from Ghana’s newly discovered crude oil resources at the expense of Ghanaians.

The documentary titled, ‘Big Men’ shows the grand schemes inspired by Wall-Street investors to fleece Ghanaians.

The 99-minute documentary, which will be given a global exposure, would be released today in New York City at the IFC Center.

According to online movie review website, movievbox.net, the documentary, which is currently receiving media raves, “follows the step-by- step process of how they (the multinational oil companies) conduct business after untapped oil fields are discovered off the coast of Ghana. It took Rachel Boynton seven years to painstakingly track these big players unawares to complete ‘Big Men’ which has been described as a thriller.

In an interview with movie reviewer, Dorri Olds on March 10,2014, Rahel Boynton stated, “The film is of a deep philosophical nature. It* s about greed and desperation and wanting to be big. That’s what connects everybody in the movie. When I was asking the questions it got turned around on me at one point when I was asked, “Don’t you want to be big?”

In the documentary, the CEO of a multinational company (name withheld) was heard saying, “Developing nations can’t get greedy” – he indicated from the prospect of making billions out of their new crude oil production project off the coast of Ghana.

He explained why his company won a hugely favorable deal with the government of Ghana around 2007.

The CEO justified why his company should see greater rewards than the industry standard, as they benefitted from the political administration at the time. The deal with Ghana was that the company would keep a vast percentage of the oil revenue being drilled out of the Jubilee oil fields, 64 nautical miles off the coast of Ghana.

Over 70 percent of the total revenue is shared by the foreign companies. They justify the huge cut by arguing that they had taken all the risk.

“What did the Ghanaians know?” asked David D’Arcy, an internationally known film critic and art reviewer, writing for The National and Screen International online, The Art Newspaper, among others.

“Ghana (which we don’t see by way of the landscape, as we do Nigeria) presents a sad dilemma…Now Ghanaians are watching as an American company gets rich on its resources. Will Ghana become a mini-Nigeria, or will it prosper as a result? There’s not much hope for any country that lacks the institutions to make prosperity possible.”

The documentary also showed the difficulties faced by the company when the John Agyekum- led administration finished its term and the administration was taken over by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) led by the now late John Evans Atta Mills.

“The previous government (the NPP government) was nice to the oil company. Certain things will have to change,” the former Minister of Energy Dr. Joe Oteng Agyei was heard saying in the documentary.

Ghana is currently drilling about 100,000 barrels of crude oil off the Jubilee Fields and barely earns US$1 billion from its oil export annually.

Of the last four presidents that we've had in the fourth republic, Mahama and his numerous henchmen have been the most corrupt. He has taken the country back to the Acheampong era where corruption was done openly and with impunity.
Fellow Ghanaians! the division of the country along tribal and political lines have not been accidental. The country is divided as such because it suits the politicians. They have stoked up sentiments to cause it and continue to fan the flames to intensify it.

For as long as we continue to fight amongst ourselves we will not come together as citizens of Ghana to hold our corrupt and incompetent politicians and institutions to account. For as long as we concentrate on hating ourselves the politicians will continue to enrich themselves at the expense of the country and its citizenry.

How long are we going to remain silent whilst these criminals plunder the state and our resources?

Just stop this tribal nonsense and think for a minute. Why are you suffering so much? Is it because you are lazy? The answer is more likely that you can't find a job and you have no means of creating yourself one? For those running their own businesses, ask yourselves why are you working so hard yet can't afford to adequately cater for your family? The reasons for all these ills lie directly at the doorstep of our governments and our politicians. Had they managed our economy and administrations well enough, no Ghanaian would be in the position they are in now.
Why is the average Ghanaian so poor?Why do large numbers of Ghanaians die from preventable diseases? Why are large sections of the country without access to clean water? Why is the country in such poor hygiene and sanitation conditions? Why is our education system so backward and inferior? Why is the national health system is such deplorable state? Why are large sections of the country without adequate supply of electricity?

My dear fellows, it is not because Ghanaians are stupid? It is because Ghanaians are lazy? I can assure you it is not because Ghanaians are not industrious or forward looking?

It is because we have allowed our leaders, politicians and our traditions to blind us to the obvious. We are not holding our leadership to account. We have stopped thinking and are being led to the slaughter.

Even though we have a written constitution in this country, we do not know how to exercise our rights. We do not challenge the obvious injustices that are happening in our day to day existence. For example, the AMA in the not too distance past refurbished the Ga Mantse's palace with tax payers money. Did you know this? If you did, was it a justifiable use of tax payer's resources?
Did you know that the Asante-hene recently directed that all house owners in the Ashanti renew the lease on their properties. Now for the majority of house owners, their properties were built on land they had bought as freehold and have built knowing that they have observed all the legal requirements pertaining at the time. Completely out of the blue some traditional chief who is subject to the nation's constitution as any citizen, wakes up one day - finds out that he's short on finances and invalidates the freehold that house owners hitherto legitimately had on properties. The result is house owners had to renew non-existent leaseholds. If you had built on inherited family land you'd still be subject to this ridiculous leasehold renewal. How corrupt can this man get? And sadly why are we allowing him to do this to us? What is the point of a constitution if we are still going to be subject to these feudal arrangements?

How can Asantehene's actions be justified in law? Worst still, nobody brought the Asantehene to court or demanded the court to investigate and make a ruling that would be part of law thereafter.

The Ashantihene gets away with this unfair and unjustifiable deed. How does he account to the Ashantis for the proceeds from this venture? How much tax did he pay on the proceeds? If he did not pay tax on the proceeds, why has the Inland revenue not dragged him to court for non-payment of tax? Why is he apparently exempt from our tax laws?

Fellow Ghanaians we are being held to a ransom by our government, our politicians, Police Force and our own breeding and cowardice.

We need to stand up, open our eyes and be bold. We the poor people of Ghana have every right to be here just like the politicians and their henchmen. We have as much right to benefit from the proceeds of our resources just like everybody else. We have every right to expect to live well from the proceeds of your labour. We have as much right as everybody else to expect the education system to deliver to meet the expectations of your family. And we have the right to demand answers from the authorities and government. If answers are not forthcoming we should act on that by getting the courts to investigate and make a ruling or pronounce judgement. We also should exercise our vote well without fear or favour, and we should never vote along tribal lines. The reason is very simple, nobody is doing you favour and therefore nobody should expect a favour from you.

If we have been vigilant from the beginning (at the outset of our independence) our politicians would not have taken us far more seriously not taken us for granted and treated us the way they have.

Will be honest you fellow citizens, a lot of the past and current politicians would not have qualified to stand for elections to Parliament due to their track record of non-achievement and immorality.

Fellow Ghanaians cast down tribalism and: "Get Up and Stand Up for your rights".

The brother of a sitting president can be in business but he should not be seen to be in anyway involved in any contract from the government, involved with delegations and negotiations because it compromises his brother.
