The question is was he underpaid? If he got what he contracted for then so be it, although it’s pathetic. These day s few companies (including even US multinational companies) offer pension benefits. This should be a lesson to all workers not only pastors. It’s imperative for employees to save and invest some of their income during the working periods. They should not spend all their incomes on “fufuu ne abenkwan and goat meat”; marrying several women; drinking beer/liquor. They should save for the rainy day no matter how small. Ghanaians are fond of depending on somebody, e.g. the government, church, companies, relatives, friends, etc. Even in US workers are encouraged to save privately, and not rely solely on social security.

Better look for a classroom to hire, buy musical instruments, look for those who will play for you, make posters about your new 'Church' and start your own. All you need is the ability to read the bible - in Akuapim or Asante Twi. Add 'International' to the name and there you go. People will start calling you pastor and every month, tithes will be pouring into your personal bank account.

the problem with this northern mentality is that thanks to jj they now all have an unquenchable thirst for power but never to serve in a team or accept their fellow countrymen . just look around in Accra and study the majority of the businesses owned by these northerners and in the majority of the medium and Small sized businesses you notice they only employ their fellow northerners and practically never employ an Akan . Today in Accra the largest religious building in the country will be the mosque being build on our national park at Nima donated by Turkey confirming the Islamic domination of Ghana. Tribalism mixed with chauvinism and despotism from the north has now equaled the hegemony of the ewes . A.C.C.R.A any criminal can roam about so we have them everywhere now . even at the scholarship secretariat hardly ever is an Akan awarded the privilege to go abroad and study now . The Akans are the majority but because most continue to sleep or blindly trust the other tribes these atrocities are taking place . We look at the political strategy of the NDC and see the typical Hannibal wench when he turned the strengths of the mighty Roman army against themselves as they are doing to the Akans . From the south they use part of the Fantis and from the North the Brongs , from behind we have the chariot onslaught of the Gas Ewes Krobos. Yes the political landscape reflects a war which is only meant to destroy the right of self governance of the God's chosen nation of Africa the Akan . For them its a big deal who leads the NPP but we really don't care as our movement grows stronger by the hour as more and more Akans wake up to reality of this dire situation . We did not ask for this war but we will fight it and be victorious as God is with us . Long live the Republic of Akan

This is really sad. Presby Church must do something about this. The young and vibrant serving ministers should impress upon the church to design a retirement package in additin to the SSNIT scheme for all ministers when they retire. Fact is all except a few of these ministers earn paltry monthly sums of money as salaries so what they contribute to SSNIT is even more pitiful hence the little money they take home on retirement. Don.t tell me their reward is in heaven, let then enjoy a bit of that heaven while here on earth. Rev Alex Obeng Agyemangn well done and congratulations in the vineyard of God, you really deserve something better than the GHs1200 retirement package given you. The issue of mismanagement is everywhere in every aspect of African and Ghanaian society. We don't plan for anything. We only think of the here and now.
If the church's finances are well managed and invested in income-generating ventures with plans for pension funds for staff and the church hierarchy these sort of things will not occur. As far as I know the Church of England has investment portfolio in real estates and on the stock market of over £6 billion. Hence the Church does not rely on offers to survive.
I don't know what so-called leaders who "lead" or "manage" our institutions think. They just show off in their titles and positions.

2. If 5 percent of salary is 246 then 100 percent (amount he was getting before retirement is 4 920. This is a lot. What did he do with these monies.
3. He has 7 children and none is anything? Did he pray for other people or even himself and his children?

Putting pressure on ministers to pay assessment is the priority if the great presby church. Mr Engmann served God and the church faithfully as organist/choirmaster at ebenezer presby (osu) and he was treated poorly when he retired. No wonder they are doing same to rev agyemang. This is disgraceful.
