Why can’t we understand that our judgment debts start with two of the most preposterous actions of government: vendor funded project and a government waiver on government contracts?
When a national government relies on projects to be funded by the contractor seeking contract work with the national government the government must acquiesce to demands from the vendor and the potential for the right government representatives to be compromised through bribes. Secondly, a government that is willing to take some contracts away from the open bid process is a government that is willing to engage in nepotism, bribery and corrupt practices. In most civilized nations, the only determinant to the bid process is the project amount; any project above GH200, 000 cedis, for example, must go under public bid. Any serious Ghana government seeking reform in government contract processes and practices must make these changes and not quibble over money after the fact.

Why can’t we understand that our judgment debts start with two of the most preposterous actions of government: vendor funded project and a government waiver on government contracts?
