Where has he heard about such tax as this ever introduced? Does he consider the glaring consequence of such insanity? Does he realise it is going to result in field days for armed robbers who the authorities have no clue as to how to handle them even now?

Just a few days ago, I noticed that they have deducted certain amount from my saving and when I find out why, my son, who is controlling the account, he told me that the bank said, it was a directive from the government. For heaven sake, Mahama should be very careful with our deposits. I earned my money in the cold here in Europe, and have paid all the taxes due on it. I can not imagine Mahama and his cronies taking a cent from my money. Anyway, I have already instructed my son to withdraw all the money and close the account. This is very stupid to say the least. I have voted for the ndc all along, even using my hard earned currency coming down to Ghana to vote. Is that the thank you! What nonsense is Allotey talking about? I will however ignore the insulting remarks made by some others under the cloak of anonimity!
I am sure most of them do not understand the basic principles of banking or what I was talking about!
1) on 4th Feb 2014 when the BoG came out with its measures to stabilise the cedi, the exchange rate (official) was GHS2.45 to the US$ - Less than 3 months later 25th April it is 2.8 cedis to $1! A 12% depreciation!!! I therefore rest my case in the court of public opinion! THE MEASURES HAVE RATHER WORSENED THE SITUATION (as I and many others predicted).
BTW I never said ALL the measures were wrong. in fact I agree with the ones where companies & institutions are to charge only in cedis!
My beef was with the operation of foreign exchange and foreign currency accounts!
Whereas I agree that one dhould not be allowed to use the $ as a medium of exchange in Ghana (ie issuing $ cheques to each other) I feel very passionately about ones right to draw currency in the same format as it was paid in! THIS IS A FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLE OF BANKING WHICH ASSURES CONFIDENCE IN THE BANKING SYSTEM!!!
Also, for those who know the difference between an FEA & and an FCA they will know that meddling with FCAs runs counter to the principles of international investor confidence!
I therefore hope that the BoG will see the light and reverse SOME of the measures when on May 5th its measures come up for review to ameliorate the harful effects it has brought about in confidence in the Ghanaian banking system.
Info #1 - I tried to bring the issue up in Parliament but was blocked!!! (Those who know how Parliament works will know what I mean)!
Info #2 - I hold a BSc in Electrical & Elevtronic engineering from the Imperial College of Science & Technology and an MSc in Systems Analysis & Operations Research from the University of Aston in Birminham(now University of Birmingham) - These records are not secret and therefore can be check up on!
