.............It seems the NDC gov't is running against time to send Ghana into the pits and it is extremely worrying, very, very worrying that, such a magnitude of ineptness, incompetence, recklessness and corruption can be brought to bear on our governance structures in such a crass manner. This Fortiz/Merchant bank deal deal from all indications is putrid, it stinks to the high heavens and nothing can justify such an atrocious deal, when Ghanaian taxpayers, from all indications are not getting any VALUE FOR MONEY in this stinking deal. Omane Boamah, MD should seek to explain why an equity firm which cannot even boast of the asset base to even acquire a non-financial banking license, should be made to take on this onerous task of not even a merger, but a full complete acquisition of Merchant bank, when Ghanaian taxpayers, have been offered far, far better VALUE FOR MONEY propositions from identifiable bodies with a portfolio of assets eclipsing over 100 billion dollars? It is indeed mindboggling the level of impunity and recklessness which has been unleashed on the affairs on governance by this NDC gov't. Ghana indeed deserves better than this recklessness which is permeating all facets of governance in this country. It's awfully pathetic.

KB, you are absolutely right that the case is deception. The state prosecution is deliberately aiming to lose the case so that Woyome and NDC can enjoy their booty. Can you believe that the major players in the case such as Mrs Betty Mould Iddrisu, the then Minister for Justice and Attorney who approved the payment, the Mr Neequaye, the State Attorney who recommended the payment and his wife was paid GHC400,000 by Woyome as well as Mr Martin Amidu who instituted the action for the refund were never called as witnesses by the state?

The trial is just a cover up to let Woyome get away with murder but they will fail. This case should have been discontinued once the Supreme Court ruled on the payments to Woyome's partners as "create, loot and share". I just cannot see how a Hight Court can let Woyome go free when the highest court of the land has ruled that the others who received similar payments should refund the money to the state. That would be a legal or judicial absurdity.

Woyome's legal team know perfectly well that their client has no defence so they went in for no case but they made a very sad mistake. It also shows the class of lawyers they are. Now they have to prove to the court that Woyome had a contract with the state and the Supreme Court erred. This can only happen in lawless and indisciplined Ghana with some farce democracy, when the President and his government simply refuse to comply with Supreme Court judgement and nothing happens, when in a true democracy the President would have been impeached.

I am of the view that the matter concerning Asamoah Boateng has traveled longer in the courts than this issue.
Now Woyome has to put up a defense because this does not mean that he is convicted.

I bet this case will continue until the day Wayome comits suicide, because he would rather die than expose his accomplices who are in high places. One would not be surprised when we learn one day that even some of the judges involved in this roadhsow all had their shares in the 51 million!
A word of warning here: When the next coup finally catches up with us, and it will not be too long, the first people who will face the firing squard will include Judges (and this time it will be justified), Wayome and the two Mahamas! Mark it on the wall!!

If he paid GH51,000,000 today and we converted it to dollars, we will get only $17,000,000. The country loses over $13,000,000 (Thirteen million dollars). Assuming he transferred the money abroad, he can now pay back the GH51,000,000 (in cedis)today and still make a profit of $13,000,000 (Thirteen million dollars). Not bad for a "financier" huh ?
