This Fortiz/Merchant bank deal deal from all indications is putrid, it stinks to the high heavens and nothing can justify such an atrocious deal, when Ghanaian taxpayers, from all indications are not getting any VALUE FOR MONEY in this stinking deal. Omane Boamah, MD should seek to explain why an equity firm which cannot even boast of the asset base to even acquire a non-financial banking license, should be made to take on this onerous task of not even a merger, but a full complete acquisition of Merchant bank, when Ghanaian taxpayers, have been offered far, far better VALUE FOR MONEY propositions from identifiable bodies with a portfolio of assets eclipsing over 100 billion dollars? It is indeed mindboggling the level of impunity and recklessness which has been unleashed on the affairs on governance by this NDC gov't. Ghana indeed deserves better than this recklessness which is permeating all facets of governance in this country. It's awfully pathetic.

I see too much I DON'T 'CARELISM' in his attitude towards governance because he is a man that didn't have any ambition of being President .He would have been happy to have ended his Political career as a Vice-president.

He loves money more than leaving any legacy as a President and he has stolen enough since becoming a Vice-president to President to waste his time hanging around Accra when his hundreds of millions of dollars are waiting in Dubai, United Arab Emirates to be spent.

As a matter of fact, I believe Mahama is readyto throw in the towel now if not for Ibrahim Mahama's $60 million loan to Axim Afri Bank loan which his presidency is helping him to pay by leasing his plane to his administration in transporting government and business officials on Presidential travels.

Taxes should not be imposed for the sake of it. Now, when Kufuor was in power, Ghana wasn't an oil producing nation and you heard what NDC did when he increase the price of fuel. What about now? Mahama has increased the price of fuel more than five times since coming to power and what is the reason?

Remember that in Ghana any increase in fuel affect every sector of the economy so, why do you think NDC under Mahama should embark on such reckless adventure?

Governing a nation requires competent people. Do you think everybody can be president? Hell no and Mahama is a prime example.

I don't know your level of managerial experience but the type of leadership MAHAMA has shown so far will not qualify him to even be a CEO in any well managed company outside Ghana except his brother's and RLG companies. The man has no clue what leadership is. He thinks leadership is Public Relations and nothing more.

etc.
At a minimum,the performance of an appointee should reflect that of the leader.Because they are going to represent you and will bring you either praises or condemnation.
If you appoint the wrong people,they will fetch you condemnation.In the same vain,the right people will earn you a lot of praises.
My suggestion is for John Mahama to go back to the drawing board and begin again.Cabinet appointments should not be seen as a time for appeasement,reward or punishment.It is not a child's play!
A good leader will work with somebody he dislikes but who can deliver the desired results and bring praises.Somebody who can criticize you constructively.
The problems engulfing Ghana could have been foreseen by a leader who knows what they are doing.For instance,fluctuations in the world prices of our major exports have been occurring from time immemorial.So it should not surprise anybody.By now the Bank of Ghana should have done some trend analysis and found out the factors which lead to these price fluctuations and the time of the fluctuations.If the commodity traders are using it to make money,why cann't we do the same thing?
The trend analysis could have warned John Mahama about all the imports when the foreign exchange earnings were dwindling and prepared for the devaluation of the Cedi.
The automatic adjustment of tariffs on utilities and refined petroleum products also seems unsound.Won't it be a better policy to tune it to the rate of inflation?
Since the ultimate goal of any development process is to improve the living conditions of Ghanaians,why doesn't John Mahama hasten slowly when the living conditions of Ghanaians are fast deteriorating?After all they "voted" for you to be president?

president’s recently acquired taste for foreign travels even when his backyard is boiling, political pundits have observed are enough pointers to surmise the President may have lost interest going for a second term.
These issues above tell the public that Mahama forced his way to the job to gain access to wealth and I believe he has stolen enough to want to use the second term to run the businesses he has set up. he is therefore smart in that regard. afterall, who knows how much he has starched away. His taste for foreign travels takes him away from the kitchen while it provides opportunities for more contacts and personal deals. Mahama therefore did not come to the job to solve the nation's problems but for his personal glories and that is why even the Volta chiefs are now crying. If Ghanaians are foolish not to think and be reasonable but put incompetent people in charge on the basis of tribal sentiments, that is what happens. We need to BEe BOLD to think.

Was this writer not in Ghana when prez kuffour and his cabinet were accessing a loan from a salon, Yaa Naa was killed and he wasn't able to do anything about it? The same kuffour was caught in a hotel scandal. But he contested again and the maximum of 8 years to be in the presidency were given to him peacefully by Ghanaian for him to retire peacefully. Kuffour was travelling around the globe while there were many problems back in the country. If problems were the issues then kuffour would have made the history in 2004
