This Fortiz/Merchant bank deal deal from all indications is putrid, it stinks to the high heavens and nothing can justify such an atrocious deal, when Ghanaian taxpayers, from all indications are not getting any VALUE FOR MONEY in this stinking deal. Omane Boamah, MD should seek to explain why an equity firm which cannot even boast of the asset base to even acquire a non-financial banking license, should be made to take on this onerous task of not even a merger, but a full complete acquisition of Merchant bank, when Ghanaian taxpayers, have been offered far, far better VALUE FOR MONEY propositions from identifiable bodies with a portfolio of assets eclipsing over 100 billion dollars? It is indeed mindboggling the level of impunity and recklessness which has been unleashed on the affairs on governance by this NDC gov't. Ghana indeed deserves better than this recklessness which is permeating all facets of governance in this country. It's awfully pathetic.

He must go like Gebvlo in state security. These people don't know anything. These 'ayibwe trokosis' have imposed themselves on Ghana because they dominate in Ghana's arm forces. Very soon, we will be there, and everything in Ghana with regard to government hiring will be based on ethnic quotas. This will avoid Ewes , who won't hire anybody from Akan area in any position of government work. Ghanaians will know them of their incompetence.They will fire themselves just like that.

If it has been Akans who have been in government for more than thirty years, Ghana would have been in better place to live. Just see eight years of President Kuffour.

There is no sense in imposing taxes on the masses just because the government needs money. Taxes, we all know, is the primary source of government revenue but it should be done in a way that corresponds with the "prevailing wind" in the country. You do not impose tax just for the sake of it or, for the people to know that you are at the helm of affairs.

The finance minister is a chartered accountant but he is needs some experience to guide him.

The threats to labor to freeze wages and all that will only conscript demand for goods and services.When there is no demand for goods and services,some businesses are going to fold up or hold back hiring and lay-off their employees.

It is rather CORRUPTION that is the problem. Where, I Mantse, can say Seth needs help is to be given the FREE HAND by the President to select people who he believes can best assist him, rather than having subordinates, serving masters with varying INTERESTS, imposed on him in a manner that is styffling.

The Corruption that I am talking about is NOT the regular PRICE INFLATION by Suppliers who get the Contract to Supply because they are Party GURUS or affiliated to Party gurus.

I am talking about the 'UNDER-CURRENT'
type Corruption where Party Afiliates
'MANAGE' to get SOLE SOURCING Supply Contracts in LOCAL PURCHASE ORDER, inclusive of which are Custom Duties and other Taxes. The Suppliers, who know they will NOT pay the Duties and other Taxes from the Contract sum INFLATE the PRICE of Imported Items SIX to TEN TIMES the Actual Price.

They then have their surrogates at the Ministry of Finance and GRA remove all Documentation indicating that Duties and Other Taxes were inclusive in the Contract sum and, again, apply to the GRA for Exemptions from the same Taxes already included in the Supply Contract.

The NET EFFECT of this SCHEME is that Govt. ends up paying Ten to FIFTEEN Times for an Item, very often INFERIOR to the quality or make that was declared in the Purchase Order.

Because the Supply Contract is for Imports, ALL of the monies accruing from this DUBIOUS TRANSACTION are allowed SAFE PASSAGE and TRANSFERRED out of the Country.

The SCHEME involves personnel at GRA, FINANCE, a COMMERCIAL BANK and BOG.

The people behind these UNPATRIOTIC and NATION WRECKING Activities have arrogated to themselves the position of selecting who must serve in certain positions in the REVENUE AREA of Govt.

The Current TOP MANAGEMENT of the GRA and its ancillaries were Hand-Picked to facilitate these CRIMES against the people of Ghana. Take a close look at the Top Personnel and you will soon realize that they were not qualified enough to bring the NEEDED VIGILANCE and INNOVATION to revenue Mobilization.

The real 'QUALIFICATION' is that they can be RELIED UPON to do their masters' BIDDING to the DETRIMENT of the nation's REVENUE MOBILIZATION.

The TOR FIRE needs to be seriously investigated. Why at a time when TOR was to return to Refining which is NOT in the interest of the OIL Marketing Companies (OMC), a Pipeline is allowed to leak for a whole week and eventually catches fire.

Seth Terkper is NOT the Problem and those shouting at the top of their voice to have him removed know much BETTER.

For quite some time the Nation's Economy has been operating with a lot of PRESSURE from certain Powerful Groups that control Trade in the Country.

Our Trade involves very little locally Manufactured Goods and is substantially all Imports of Finished Goods that is almost always at, or near, the Point of Sale. So therefore, there is no meaningful Value Addition. Huge Profit margins are slapped on the items and they are released into the stream of Ghanaian Commerce.

You know they don't pay Import Duties and it is due to some 'COOKED ARRANGEMENTS' within the protection of the FREE ZOPNES ACT.

Almost every SEGMENT of the Ghanaian Economy has some form arrangement that is not in the interest of the State. The Public Officials who process these transactions are aware but 'how dare they speak up'?

Instead of focussing on the things that are making us unwell as a nation we have resorted to SCAPE-GOATING and SACRIFICING those who have been UNLUCKY ENOUGH to have inherited this problem.

These persons firing shots about why Seth must be fired? Are they smarter than the President and his Team of Advisors and Managers of the Economy?

Some of these Opinions must be held in check as they seem to not know what the ISSUES are or, they are on the wrong side of the ISSUES.

We cannot have a MAFIOSO-type BLOCKS control Commerce and NOT experience serious Economic Shocks.

It is our way of doing things that must change.

Our Leaders and Managers must take a lesson or two from those with Best Practices Credentials and engage them in Experience Transfer discussions.

Experience is the Key.

Agencies and Institutions have to be seen to be doing their part as Seth matures to the task. His Approach is a new one but urgently needed at this time.

The truth is that when Prof Mills (r.i.p) was sick and eventually died white color thieves in the gov and in the country mismanaged and stole a sizable amount of our tax payers money- not to talk about the election which also bred massive under-hands deals and corruption. If Allotey Jacobs wants Terkper to go,he should pinpoint to the Finance Minister,his weakness.I also share the same sentiment that Mr Terkper is not up to the task.You see,he took over a bouyant economy from Dr Kwabena Duffour where we had 14% GDP,the fastest growing in the world if we should go by the indicators.The inflation rate was then 9.8% and Foreign Direct Investment was very high in 2012.Ghana was then moving into the Middle Income Status steadily.Today,the GDP is about 4% and inflation rate above 16% with no confidence in investors.These indicators are very bad for the economy.I have even not mentioned the debt deficit,falling cedi and unemployment.Besides,the negative socio-economic impact is just too unbearable.Many businesses have been affected and collapsed with no clear Policy to halt the mess.It is in this light that we see that the man in charge of the economy is not performing well compared to Dr Kwabena Duffour and Prof.Mills.Allotey should blame the President for his inactions but not Terkper.The president is his own enemy and NDC should let him know what's going on.Allotey Jacobs is 100% right.Thank you.

Instead of the government and parliament as well as Judiciary and the Elder statemen like Rawlings and Kufour giving up theie welfare mentality and contribute to the economy; All the so called statemen are hiding behind in their Big State Provided mansions and robbing the nation clean. Nasty behaviour from certain media houses and junk journalists in Ghana are holding the country back. No where in this story states when Allotey made this statement about Seth Tekper. It appears this is an old statement from this man when he was having a bad day and then made such statement. Kweku Baako and the like, NPP supporters make dangerous statements more than this and they weren't reprinted as it has been done on this statement. To me, changing the finance minister is not the solution because any qualified finance person will be cautious about handling the country's funds as Tekper is doing now. He knows what he is doing because he consults his Harvard collegues on issues and I'm sure they help him. Harvard is not an institution of failures. I think the country's problem is for people to change their attitudes. There are a lot of people for example who evading taxes and also stealing utilities. Also the two major political parties are all the same wasting funds so therefore whom should we trust?

The problems of high unemployment, high cost of living, lack of business investment, FOREIGN EXCHANGE SLIPPAGE AND CURRENCY DEVALUATION, LOWER GDP GROWTH, BALANCE OF TRADE DEFICITS are currently worldwide in Europe and North America. Even the Chinese have registered lower GDP GROWTH Capitalism is going through a crisis. The developing countries will feel the social inequality between the haves and have- nots even more. As social inequality widens in society, crime wave increases and in the developing world , the brain drain exacerbates. The fact of the matter is the people trained with the meager resources of developing countries who leave for the so called advanced countries become frustrated when they cannot find jobs in their trained professions and end up working menial jobs.The advanced economies will be looking for markets to dump their finished goods on while buying raw materials from these same markets in the developing markets cheaply. Under so called structural adjustment programs they create jobs in the third world for their professionals to take the very loans they give out to these developing economies in the form of high salaries and benefits for their boys. The world is becoming meaner and meaner. TIGHTEN YOUR BELTS GHANAIANS. DONT BE FOOLED INTO THINKING A CHANGE IN GOVERNMENT WILL CHANGE ANYTHING. KUFFUOR GOT LUCKY WITH DEBT RELIEF UNDER THE IMF HIPC INITIATIVE WHICH LOWERED OUR PAYMENT ON FOREIGN DEBT SO HE COULD HANDLE EXPENDITURE ON THE HOME FRONT. MAHAMA IS IN A VERY TIGHT SPOT. OUR OIL REVENUES ARE NOT EVEN ENOUGH TO COVER OUR INTEREST PAYMENTS ON FOREIGN DEBT. Meanwhile when we do get the loans in from the World Bank and other agencies, corruption which is very endemic in our society, leaches it into the pockets of the elite who continue to wallow in wealth and opulence in the midst of the extreme poverty of a large section of the population. The politicians will always find a way to hoodwink the voting public that they have solutions when they mount political platforms, but in reality they are looking for an opportunity to fill their own pockets through corruption and could care less. Parliamentarians who are supposed to pass good laws to protect the interest of Ghana and its peoples, become lobbyists for people who are out to exploit us through bad deals. Its such an unfair world. SO WHAT TO DO? WELL ITS EACH FOR HIMSELF AND GOD FOR US ALL. DONT SIT DOWN AND THINK SOMEBODY IS GOING TO REPRESENT YOUR INTEREST - HUSSLE.

I see Allotey Jacobs as a man of no experience, but can talk a lot without proving himself as a person of good knowledge about national economy and what can make that economy in question to be sound and balanced, since there many factors that put an economy in distress like what we have now in Ghana.

A very typical factor today in Ghana's dilema is the so called judgement debt that many in high governmental positions have used to wreck the economy years after years.

What is happening today is nobody wants to know the damage that ''smart stealing of the nation's money through the judgement debt strategy had done to the economy.

So in simple language it is Terkper, the escape goat when every rational Ghanaians smells of thievery via judgement debt strategy.

I thought that Allotey Jacobs could mention few points of great interest that will help everybody to understand why Mr Terkper has to be fired. To fire a person of a post is the easiest thing to do, but to help with the ideas and facts that could better the economy is what is the most difficult thing to come by.

What is Allotey Jacobs giving in place of the minister. Is he going to take over or what? Every Finance ministry is not run by one person but a team although a sinle person acts as the minister in charge.

Is Allotey blaming the whole team or one person that might be his enemy due to perhaps not allowing them to get access to the national finance that they help to destroy unknowingly
