Kufour is not the cause of our loosing the last elections but rather Akuffu Addo and his National Executives and his useless campaign team. If he think we the moderates in NPP are fools we shall punish them like we did to his boys at Tamale. Time will tell.

Why does Kwasi Pratt always talk like he's the repository of all knowledge and wisdom?

Politics is all about perception. Kufuor, as much as he's an Ex-President also embodies the ideologies and aspirations of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition.

It is therefore very valid for people to express misgivings about his actions if they are contrary to the stance taken by the party.

There are major corporate events all the time, Kufuor almost never attends those, why will he find the need to associate himself with the fruits of a poisonous tree such as this Merbank deal which his very own Former Spokesperson denounced so viciously and even sued to stop its sale?

I know for a fact that Former Prez George W Bush will never attend anything associated with the Healthcare Reform Bill here in the US because his party is so strongly against it. That is what loyalty and consistency is all about.

Pratt should take a hike, he's not the only one entitled to freely expressing their opinion.

This Fortiz/Merchant bank deal deal from all indications is putrid, it stinks to the high heavens and nothing can justify such an atrocious deal, when Ghanaian taxpayers, from all indications are not getting any VALUE FOR MONEY in this stinking deal. Omane Boamah, MD should seek to explain why an equity firm which cannot even boast of the asset base to even acquire a non-financial banking license, should be made to take on this onerous task of not even a merger, but a full complete acquisition of Merchant bank, when Ghanaian taxpayers, have been offered far, far better VALUE FOR MONEY propositions from identifiable bodies with a portfolio of assets eclipsing over 100 billion dollars? It is indeed mindboggling the level of impunity and recklessness which has been unleashed on the affairs on governance by this NDC gov't. Ghana indeed deserves better than this recklessness which is permeating all facets of governance in this country. It's awfully pathetic.

It is the result of cheap brain work to thing that all party positions are the representation of absolute 100% endorsement by all members. In a political party of all nature, we always have some leftists, rightists and even the moderates; I mean people who will definitely offer an alternative view to that which might be seen as the view of all, totally agree with the position or remaining indifference on issues. In any case, who told you that those arguing against the sale of a national assert to all local group of people sought the consent of the over 5000000 NPP supporters before their stance? Do you know that SOCIETE GENERAL bought the SSB with all its asserts during the time of Mr. Kuffour? Do you also know that, it is only after resently that it actually changed the name to that effect but was using SG-SSB. is it not possible to think that, Mr. Kuffour, after he was led into selling the SSB to SG was that it was not worth the deal? What if the same people are still fronting for SG in this Merchant Bank deal? If you were K4 whose views are not sought after by these current crops of the desperate Akyem Mafia Led NPP, will you just be endorsing every reckless pronouncements or action? You claimed Pratt claimed to know all, yet all you ended up doing is to say you even know better. First off, my criticism to Pratt was about his unbridled penchant for dissing others because they hold views that are divergent from his. My point was that he's entitled to his opinion and so are all those who are expressing misgivings about Ex-Prez Kufuor's misadventures.

Secondly, I did not talk about elected Representatives such Senators or Congressmen, ok? I respect their rights to have different views on a range of issues.

However, I specifically mentioned an Ex-President. Even in a sophisticated democracy like the US, they are careful enough in their actions so as not to be seen to be giving their impramatur to the opposite side of issues that their parties have taken a strong stance against.

If politicians in advanced democracies are cognizant of the effect of such tacit endorsements, how much more a democracy like ours, where the people are more gullible due to a high level of ignorance?

Prez Kufuor is a veteran politician, I do not perceive as naive in the least, and that is exactly why this latest move is scary. What will be next? Will he chair the launch of the Woyome Foundation?

Mind you, the sale of SSB was not the first of its kind in our history, other regimes sold plenty of state assets at fire sale prices. However, the Merbank sale generated so much more controversy on a whole new decibel level because of how shady the deal was, coupled with the fact that a lot of its troubles could be traced right down to crony capitalism where major debtors who are close to the corridors of power brazenly refused to make good on it, up until after it's supposed sale. Think about it.

I don't understand the mentality of the NPP. Their offshoot, UP(Mate me ho clique) resisted Ghana gaining independence. They wanted Ghana to be a federal state so that they can keep the revenues from cocoa and other natural resources in their stronghold regions. They criticised the construction of the Tema Motorway and the Tema Harbour. They even criticised the construction of the Akosombo Dam claiming all those projects were extravagant. Kuffour has shown he is a real statesman. Real statesmen put party politics aside when it comes to national issues. No wonder Kuffour was able to bring the party to power on 2 occasions. A feat which the party is finding it difficult to achieve since he left office. I believe this mentality of the party may be one of the reasons they are unable to win the Ghanaian electorate as a whole. I think Ghanaians will not like the country to be moved backwards by reactionary politics. This latest episode shows that Democracy in Ghana is still yet to mature in spite of the rave reviews by the international community.

The NPP was vocal in opposing the underhanded manner in which the Bank which had a strong public shareholding through SSNIT, was sold.

This was not just political pettiness but a strong articulation of a well-founded suspicion that fraud was being committed against the assets of the people of Ghana, to benefit a few political and business cronies.

If the former leader of a party realises that his party is on the offensive against corruption and fraud in a particular instance, and he chooses to ignore that and honour an invitation from the beneficiaries of the fraud, he has effectively condoned the corruption and fraud. Besides, he sends a message to the world that he does nit concur with what his party in Parliament says 9r does. Is that not a weakening of the party?

Pratt used to attack Kufuor when Kufuor was in power. But now that Kufuor has joined the ""let-us=eat-it=together" crowd that pays Pratt, he is defending Kufuor?

But out of many outpoutings comes the truth. So, Pratt has done the NPP a service: by stimulating the discussion of this issue, he has enabled the NPP to focus on the traitors in its midst. Traitors? A strong word, surely? Well, what would you call people who act in such a way that they invite the public to say, "Ho, tweaaa -- all this loud crying over corruption by the NPP, is not all done for personal advantage? See how now their leaders endorse the dubious ownership of the Merchant Bank, that they had themselves condemned!"

Kufuor and Mpiani will be condemned to the rubbish heap of NPP history, mark my words.

You sit and endorse dubious oil contracts and loans without due diligence and not ashamed and when right thinking persons like Arthur K and Tarzan take you on you are annoyed. I cry for the party. Kuffuor would never be president again and those despising him do so at their own peril. His constituency is very large and are watching quietly. But at least I'm satisfied to the extent that both Nana and Kuffuor are not in an armslength relations and are very matured in some of these infantile permutations going on. Please NANA should sometimes be specific in calming down and laying bare some of these unfounded comments about Kuffuor.
