The fact is, Ewes just simply don't like Ashantis. Even if NPP use the entire election year campaigning in the Volta Region, I doubt if it would result in anything good. It would just be another waste of time and energy.

Even if Ewes are starving to death, the simple fact is they would prefer to die than vote for the NPP whom they regard as their competitors and nemesis.

Right from young Ewes are taught by their parents not to have any regard for Ashantis. They are thought to regard Ashantis as uneducated bush men who are greedy and are only out to grab the wealth of the country.

They are therefore thought to regard themselves as the more educated who should not succumb to the whims of the uneducated.

As the years go by the pronouncements of some Ashantis about the Ewes did not help, but cemented Ewe beliefs that they and Ashantis can never get on.

My worry is that for a whole region not to vote for a single MP of the largest minority party is something the NPP should be seriously concerned about and I always wonder if the NPP can ever win back power without any votes from the Volta Region.

Having use all means without success, I sometimes wonder if any of the NPP leaders have ever thought of apologising to the region on a very grand scale for forgiveness for their pronouncements made against the Ewes.

He surrounded himself with what is commonly known as the "Akyme Mafia" who spoke loosely and insolently. Take a look at people like Usela, Garby Otchere Darko, that professor of primary school children in the UK, Sammy Owoku etc. As long as such people are associated with Akuffo Addo with his own unguided and loose talks he can never win any elections in Ghana even if all Ashantis vote for him.

Some of your statements seem too generalized and without any scientific or historical basis. Others are simple truths that cannot be ignored. Is it only the Ewes that behave like this towards the Asantes? If yes is there a historical basis for this hostility between the two ethnic groups? One thing I know for sure is that in Ghana every ethnic group has some kind of negative stereotypes against other ethnic groups. It is also true that the Ewes have taken formal education very seriously than many other ethnic groups so it is not surprising to find Ewes in almost every department of the country. In the 1980s Ewes formed the majority of students for subjects like Ghanaian Languages, Art and Craft, Music and Dance, sculpture etc while some of use were struggling to study Law, Administration, Medicine etc. After the first degrees the Ewe colleagues moved on to graduate in other fields other than the ones they studied for the first degrees.It therefore not a false that the Ewes take pride in being considered most educated. Take a look at my uncles the Fantes. With all the best schools in Ghana located in Fanteland they take pride by being comedians and celebrating the legacies of the British Colonialists. As for my Ga friends it is a woeful pity. They neither have education nor a land to rely on. I will be back later.

I don't think making a non-Akan its flag-bearer may tilt Volta votes in favour of the NPP.

You see, if the Voltarians don't want to be used by the NPP, are they happy being used by the NDC with nothing to show for it?

stop the joke you will never win volta. Because the party;s attitude is very arogant towards other tribes. Change your ways and embraze all humans as the same then volta will consider NPP.
